looks fine to me, you are just seeing the reflection of the oil seal shield.

the looks like chips to me!!! you better test that motor before you go any further. the worst thing is putting in a motor that u think works and you do all these little things and then u gotta rip it all out for nothing. Trust me i have been there TEST THAT BITCH

 

hey, wanna sell that little cutoff chunk of the driveshaft? those make great plugs for the tranny! PM if u do!

 

i don't see any chips

 

motor looks s4, judging by the fan( 8 blade), and the tranny mount( offset). I also see chips, but its hard to tell if it is just a light leak.

 

it looks like the "chips" are from the background behind the blades, look at the line of the blade and just follow it...

 

here, i did this really quick since im at work, red line shows the blade line, and blue line shows the background line... i think someone said it was the oil seal?

rotor housings and thermostat neck show it as S4
and it looks like there is a hard line by the turbo for the twin scroll actuator

 

wordd.. knock sensor isnt above spark plug..s4 it is.. i hope they didnt send you the wrong one?!?..

 

I knew it was a s4......

 

chances are its going to take a hammer to get it off. when motors come over here from japan on the container they get shuffled around some and so on so those sometimes get stuck. but if you can just pull it off by all means do

 

i forgot to ask for that price was the motor guaranteed to turn over? is there a warranty on it? or is it sold as just a core? japanese wankles are kinda iffy if a warranty isnt offered. lets just say when an rx7 makes its way into a yard there is a good chance the motor is seized.

looking at the nissan motors they are about on par a bit high but not horrible. im curious to know if they do compression tests prior to bringing them over and warranty nfo.

S5's are N370, i'm pretty sure, my JDM S5 TII ECU is N374
