AIM: Racetune

Cool guy, one of the authorized Apexi Software dealers. The other one is Henry up in Sacramento which is about 1/3 - half the price of what I was quoted at Racetune.

I would say that both are about equal in abilities.

But the real king of tuning IMHO would be Steve Kan.

As posted in BArotary.com

Yeah, I'm interested. Dave is a cool guy that comes highly recommended.
I'd like to get my car fien tuned by a pro to squeeze out some extra ponies. I just know that my car should be able to out down more than 316RWHP with my mod list.

When are you guys thinking of doing this and where?

JOHN

I talked to Dave last night. All last week he was busy prepping for Mazfest over the last weekend and he told me his email server is down or something. Anyways I talked to him about a group tune and said there's alot of complications as of right now. Normally he uses ATP for dyno but he has told me they are most likely totally getting rid of their dyno at the facility. If a group tune does occur it will most likely only be a small group of 3-5.

I was at www.safetycheckauto.com and they were just finishing up with the groung work in their smog-Dyno installation.

I think he is working on getting the software for Dyno.

What's the status on this? I just installed a SAFC II and would definitely be down for it.

Not sure what's officially going on but Dave told me to speak for him. Basic situation is that finding a place to do tuning is not exactly easy right now and finding a place to hold a group dyno is even more unrealistic at the time. He said there may be a small opportunity for 3-5 people if he can locate a place to accomodate us but he's been super busy lately.

That's all I can really say right now. Any questions and I'll try and answer them, if not I'll see if I can get an answer from dave.

Thanks for replying so quick dude. I picked up that SAFC from Will yesterday and installed it today. I'm really excited about getting it tuned properly. Do you think that the session is gonna go down anytime soon, or should I look to other places to tune? I've only heard good stuff about Dave, and would like for him to do the tuning, but if he's to busy I can understand.

I honestly dont think a group dyno is likely soon so I wouldnt hold your breath. You can try to set up a one on one session with dave like I am going to do if we cant get a group thing going. I'm aiming for early to mid next month but still not too sure of his schedule.

Keep me posted on your session. If he can do 2 ppl I'll go in w/u. If he's too busy for 2 then PM me his contact info so I can get a hold of him and try to set something up. I tried checking osdesigns for an email, but it's down.

ok, so we have 15 people interested in spending some serious coin here. I'm starting to feel like we have some funky smell or something, nobody wants to jump in and tune us. Maybe someone should buy a wideband, datalogger and start doing some street tuning. I'll sign up to be # 15 in line. **** there is $4,000 to $5,000 sitting here for a tuner!

You guys can't go wrong with Ghetto Dave. His knowledge and technical know-how is very impressive and he always takes the time to explain what's going on with cars. You can actually learn a lot about cars, turbos, and tuning by talking with him too. For those who have not seen it, his FD is very hardcore. The car makes 440rwhp and the only off the shelf parts on it really are the intercooler and exhaust. The turbo kit, wiring harness, and manifold along with all the relevant piping was personally done by Ghetto Dave which really shows his techincal prowess. It's really a shame that he is so busy or else more people can get their cars tuned by him

^Agreed. Dave definately has one bad *** FD, very well done. I've hung out at his shop a few times and talked to him and asked him questions. He always takes the time to explain why something is or how it works. He really knows his stuff.
