Inquiry concerning trade for a FC

Do you think anyone would trade their FC for a 97 GST Spyder?

I figured I'd ask here and just hear some people's opinion.

Again, all I'm trying to do is keep rotary in the garage, so the best way to do that is trade my daily, the eclipse. My FD will be for sale once I finish a few things on it.

you will find someone out there.. look for people selling FCs, and shoot them a message, post your eclipse on craigslist for trade for FC..

I built an s13, traded that for a rare oldschool benz, than that to my FC. So yeah you can always find someone lol. Just as long as you never settle for a car worth less lol.

Is it the same engine from the GSX model? And isn't that the one infamous for crankwalk?

first off I use this as a daily driver, not at the moment for reason I will discuss later in the thread.. That's who I want to appeal to, and as far as I know, yes it is the same engine as the gsx (again I may be wrong, I will look this up), just the drive train is fwd. Before my father died last october, this was the last car he rode in with me, and he said he liked it. Hell he never even said that about my fd. Another reason I want to trade is because it reminds me a lot about him. Not to get all deep or anything but that's what drove me to start the thread. Not to mention, I love rotary and wish to remain in the community with some type of rotary vehicle.

Also, I can't keep both. In order to get my first house, I need to get rid of my commercial debt, and that's what my FD will do once it's done/sold. I'd rather have a FC at this point. Unless the loan company decides to asborb that debt as well? Then yes the FD will stay.

I don't know what crankwalk is, I'll research it and let you know?

lol I doubt brismo will trade -.-

well, thanks keep the oppions coming. Of course if you want to trade? Pm me. I would like it to be a straight trade (for the FC owner) but I am willing to add cash if needed. Doing some research it looks like my car should sell for around 3K.

Cheers,
-Rob

1. crankwalk

Movement of the crank out of stock specifications. All cranks have L to R movement, to some extent, but an excessive lateral crank movement has bad reprocussions, such as hitting/grinding/destroying the crank sensor. A "walking" crank necessitates an engine rebuild.

Any car can crankwalk, but Mitsubishi Eclipses, Plymouth Lasers, and Eagle Talons with a 7-bolt motor are notorious for this problem. No recall was ever released as the problem was said to be isolated to a bad batch of cranks, which represented a fraction of the produced cars. Various theories of why crankwalk occurs and what years are most suseptible exist, but none are proven. General consenus is poor oil flow is one cause, and later model years seem to suffer less.

Contrary to popular opinion, any car can crankwalk; Manual, auto, import, domestic, turbo, manual, racecar, beater. All have walked, and all have a chance of walking.

Got this from the "Urban Dictionary". I guess all DSM cars are liable of "crankwalk". Then again, all cars can. Anyway, thanks for informing me of this crank walk issue, but I guess my car doesnt. It doesnt need a rebuild? Thus I guess it doesnt suffer from that problem? Iono, I will continue to look this up.

well turns out got one to bite, but there's a couple of issues. I guess I see what you guys think and go from there...

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/1562806557.html

Not worried about the drive, but upon talking his interior has no carpet, and the panels are mismatched (he has black ones included with the car)... And his paint looks like a 10 yr old went at it with a crayon... Although I am considering picking it up anyway, (and having DK paint it as long as the damn cops don't come by)

more importantly, the car runs perfect, and has been rebuilt. (although I would be new to "premixing")

what do you guys think? (he only wants 2400 for it)

offer him 1800. because you gotta go up there. As for paint you can just pay a little extra for Daniel to rent out a spray booth. Not sure if you saw the interior pieces me and daniel painted but they came out pretty legit. maybe you can just do that for the interior.
