The "I'm incompetent, need your help" thread

Here is what I'm unable to do because I have a small brain:

-Mount my bucket seat to the stock rails.
-Find a spot to mount my harness (for the seat).
-Properly bolt in my cage.

Is anyone available to help (PM me), or can suggest a place around Pasadena to go to?

I'm willing to pay $50 if you can come help me do all of the above.

Um, to the OG poster...

If this is stuff is going into an FC, then I can probably help you out, no fee required. first take out your seats to mount the roll bar. push it as far back as possible and make sure the feet are aligned properly to the rear wheel well humps. get a really good drill and drill the holes. then bolt in your roll bar with the supplied hardware.

For the harness, you can use the bolts that are used for the regular lap-belt connections. You will have to make a small slit in the carpet on the door side to mount the harness. THe transmission side of the harness should bolt right to the existing receptical/clicker thingie without too much drama.

Your seats can not be installed, but bolting alfermarket seats to stock rails is usually not an easy process, especially on the passenger side since the floorboard and seat are angled on the passenger side. you might be better off getting the mounting kit for your seat.

Well okay... I put the cage in in the car, but am not confident that it is totally straight. I'm also not confident in my ability to drill straight since I always manage to mess things up with a drill.

Seet brackets I started to make like the JaySpec7 Sparco seat install that probably everyone has seen and/or heard about, but once again, drilling sucks *** and I got frustrated and ran out of time.

Dave - Think you'll be free sometime next weekend?

if you're not sure you installed it right, you should put the car in jackstands... that way the chassis itself is freehanging and not stressed when it's on the ground.

people that install strut bars w/o lifting the car first usually defeats the purpose of having a strut bar in the first place

when you put the car up in the air, free hanging, you're letting the chassis loosen up so that when you install the roll bar or care or strut bars, they tighten it very tight when it's lose. good luck!
