I'm at it again

Ok, so today's my quit day. I have one LAST cigarette that I'm saving for my coffee break, then no more smoking. God help us all.

So should I resurrect the old "I quit smoking" thread, or just keep it all in this new one?

dood, I just had my last cigarette. I should've saved 2 instead of 1. Would it be cheating if I bought a pack and smoked only 1 cigarette? God help us all.

btw,
It's been 4 minutes since my last cigarette....
blah blah blah.. whatever.

Do you have kids? If you do, imagine your kid(s) playing with a butcher knife every time you want a smoke. Would you let them?

I admit, I have switched to cigars, but like that is any better.............

I smoked my last cigarette over a year ago, so I think I have successfully quit. I don't have the urge to smoke anymore, even when I'm around smoking people. It was tough to completely quit, but I gradually smoked less and less. I probably smoked less than 5 per month on the last few months before I eventually quit.

Also I heard from the news yesterday that they're gonna make it illegal to smoke in a car if children are present? Didn't really pay attention, but it seems like the smoking laws are getting stricter nonetheless.

don't get me started on smoking laws...

I've been smoking 1-2 packs a day for 15 years now. I'm so bummed about quitting smoking that I didn't even realize that it's only Tuesday. This day totally sucks.

this is a clear indication that your going to fail. sorry buddy, but to really quit your going to have to know that its truely bad for you and you want to quit for yourself. theres a difference though between knowing something is bad and truely knowing something is bad. trauma of having someone you know of dieing from smoking is a good kick in the butt to be able to see why you must quit. but untill then good luck on quitting again.

One of the episodes on "Bullshit!" (Penn & Teller on Showtime) was about the BS smoking laws too. They did research on the issue and found that there's no correlation between 2nd hand smoke and heart attack/ lung cancer statistically, using scientific research. If I remember correctly, they even found an article published by the EPA stating the effect of 2nd hand smoke on heart attacks was insignificant.

So all it comes down to is the non-smokers not liking the smell of cigarettes, and they are the majority.

Just to prove you wrong, I'm gonna stick with this. hopefully. I'm so sad. I feel like I just lost my best friend.

If you feel that way, it'll be hard for you to succeed, and I agree with scratchjunkie... You'd need to want to quit yourself, not because someone makes you, or cigarettes are expensive, or they're bad for you, etc... When I started to smoke less, I felt kinda uncomfortable every time I smoked, since I needed to get used to the smoke again. So "smoking" wasn't as pleasant and enjoyable to me as it once was, and I could remind myself of that uncomfortable feeling when I had the urge to smoke the next time.

yeah. That doesn't work for me. I never needed to get used to cigarettes. I liked it the first time I tried it, and I loved it when I started up again. If it was up to me, I'd smoke for another 20 years. I'm quitting for immediate health reasons. I pretty much HAVE to quit. I almost feel like my doctor's lying to me to get me quit smoking.... but that's probably the incredibly-unbearable-urge-to-smoke talking.
