I need tips to pass CA smog! Help!

I have to get my car registered, and I'm a little nervous, I have no idea what I'm in for.

1993 Automatic, 85K with only 20K on rebuilt engine. Totally stock. Every now and then, after driving for a little while, it won't start up again.

Should I drive it for a while first, or not? Should I go to a 'test only' place?

Thank you

Run a tank full of Chevron Techron with NO PREMIX.

Change oil and filter.

Make sure the engine and exhaust is NICE and hot. In short, don't turn-off the engine, and circle around the block, until they emissions guy is ready for you.

A good shop will do a "pre test" before the actual test at no cost.
