I lost my car title, how do I sell it?

Do I have to get a new title before transferring ownership or can I do something else?

thanks

you don't need a new title, there is a form you can get for transfer of ownership without a title.

Yep, you can just either get a paper from DMV, you can also find it online. Or you can go in with the new owner and just fill out the papers together.. then they will just send the new owner the new title. Plus a bill of sale and the regular requirements, smog as well as brake and lamp check (if salvaged.)

just do a search on the dmv website. There's a form specifically for selling your car if you lost your title, but you need to get your signatures notarized. You might be better off just getting a replacement title first. Either way, the DMV site can tell you a lot more than the rest of us can. So go to the DMV site and....

Do a search, NOOB.
