i live around jerks and idiots! need advice

hey guys,

this morning i was walking to my FD to go to work, and i found a piece of paper on the windshield saying "abandoned vehicle please tow,, been here 5+ days" and a ziplock bag with a card inside saying "if this vehicle is seen parked in same place for 2+ days in this neighborhood it will be reported stolen, this isn't free parking for LAX"

wtf?!

i parked right on my apt's block! i usually take the bus to work so i don't drive my cars during the week much, and my FD has only been parked there for two days. i wasn't blocking anyone's driveway or anything. i think it may be the house i parked in front of that left this note, i'm gonna go find out tonight. can they actually report my car stolen? or are they imply they'll steal my car next time?

suggestions???

i can't believe the people living in west la. they're so not cool

Well Dave, I'm sorry to say, but you have ******* neighbors who think public parking doesn't apply to the front of their doorways. Chances are, if you're the newcomer on the block, you aren't familiar with the pecking order of who gets what parking space. The lowlife folks hwo have been living in your area longer than you feel that they are entitled to park in front of their doorway. When someone new comes along and moves their cheese, they start to panick and feel less important in the world.

Report them to your local police department and have a file going about them. That way, at least you'll have something to go on when they bash your window in. I highly recommend also, that you make it known that the police have been notified of these threats and that you refuse to take them lightly or be intimidated by their ghetto-isms. Don't let these low-lifes push you around.

Wow, Mr. Series soon to be Phish Jockey finally have some good advice.... BTW, why didn't you call back!!!

Also, when you talk to them be as polite as you can be. Not kissing *** just civil. Introduce yourself and your car. Let them know that you have notified the police and have made a report regarding the incident and thank them for keeping and eye out for cars that may have been abandoned, even though yours wasn't.

Then take the baseball bat and... I'll PM the rest

You can't have your vehicle parked in one spot for more than 72 hrs.

The real cause of this problem isn't the "dicks" who live in your neighborhood, it's the City government that allows apartment buildings to be built with inadequate parking.

Just go talk to the people politely and explain that you live on the block and often leave your car sit for a few days at a time.

Notify your property management about this.

I looked into the abandoned parking thing because an old ford truck was parked on my street for 6 months. Police said if a car is parked in same spot for more than 48 hours it can be reported. Then parking enforcement comes out and puts a bright orange sticker on windshield saying you have 48 hours to move it or it'll get towed.

They towed that dirty bird droppinged truck.

It actually might not be your neighbors at all. but most likely it is. Same thing happened to my friends car, we were changing the starter. Left it jacked up overnight, next day...booom sticker. ****** arab neighbors (no offense, they really are) called it in. But they had a totalled POS Taurus in front of their house for like 2 months minimum. Goes to show mutual respect is a thing of the past.

Yea, There was a big *** moving truck parked on the side of the street near my house, Had the orange sticker placed on it, from what I know, those stickers are near impossible to get off.

Wonder why your neighbors would get pissed about it, they get to have a real car parked near their house, people might think it's theirs. haha

Put a note inside the car, behind the window, facing outside saying "No, it hasn't! I just parked here!" followed by Series7's phone number.

Like the situation Rynberg described, an apartment complex full of college kids recently went up around my place and we get strange cars appearing here and there. I've got this old widow neighbor that sits inside all damn day with nothing to do. She calls up everyone in the neighborhood if a new car has been in the same place for more than a 1/2 day... sometimes even if it's a vehicle that's familiar to her. I am not exaggerating (I wish I was).

If you have a sensitive alarm that may be going off all day while your're gone, that may be something to consider, as wel.
