I help your computer, you help my FB?

I've got an 83 rx7, and I'm having problems. I believe it's either a carb or vacuum issue, but would really appreciate a Bay Area rotorhead giving me some insight and maybe helping (read: supervising) me wrenching.

I work at a computer shop in Fairfield, and would be more than happy to fix any and all of your computer issues. pro bono.

Hit me up!!

Maybe a better description of the problem you are having would help. Also there aren't a whole lot of vacuum hoses on an FB. Also https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/1st-gen-rx-7-faq-page-237777/ has a thing on vacuum leaks and how to fix.

Thanks for the diagram! But I've got a 12a in my beast! lol.

I'm losing power at what I believe to be 3K rpm. (my instrument panel is kinda faulty) Kinda sounds like the engine is dying, then doesn't, but won't give any power until I let off the fuel then feather it for a second. If I shift when I lose power, I'm ok and the car keeps moving along.

Just replaced carb, vacuum assembly, cap and rotor, rebuilt distro, new plugs, new wires, new wiring harness.

Stumped and might not even be explaining the problem correctly. .

You replace your fuel filter?

What kind of carb did you replace it with?

Vacuum lines should be near identical from 83-85 except for an automatic will have additional lines

@Dwarf, yes, new fuel filter, carb is a stock nikki from a pick n pull 83. Which is why I'm thinking there could be problems coming from it. .

@Force13b: is the vacuum assembly that similar from the 12a to the 13b? I've got alot more vacuum solinoids on mine than is in that diagram. .

Thank you all for watching/helping me stumble through newbieness.

Nope, manual trans.

And I just replaced a few vacuum lines that weren't looking too hot, and backfired something major, and totally blew my muffler to friggin peices!

Whilst I think it's neat (although I'm heartbroken that this may be indicative of a new problem) my neighbors were none too happy. . .that isht was LOUD!

bmeyer: Thanks for the links! as soon as I get back to my house, I'm gonna have my work cut out for me.

Howru: I think so. I kicked myself the rest of the day for not getting your email address that time. You should swing by the shop sometime and say what's up.
