I have a problem with my title PLEASE HELP

Okay so I bought this mustang from a friend a few years ago and did all the paperwork but I never got a new title with my name on it. I couldn't get the car to smog right so I wasn't able to completely register it, could that be the problem? Also I'm trying to sell it now since I got my FC so does anyone know how I would do this since I have the old filled out title? If someone could help me out so I don't have to go to the DMV and figure it out that would be super awesome.

you need to go to the dmv and fill out the lost title forms and pay any late fees since it has not been registered for a while. they have a website

hopefully the person you are trying to sell the mustang to is smart enough to do their reasearch in what the Seller has to do in a vehicle transaction

you have to get him to fill out a new title transfer, and a new release of liability. it just happened with me and my FC, DMV lost everything.

if you payed for registration they will have track of it, or find your recipt.

you do not have to call or wait in line to get the forms, most of them will have them laying out.

You didnt finish the job years ago and now you will have to do more work. If the car is not transferred to your name then legally it probably still belong to the previous owner. You will need it get the car smogged, then transfer it to your name. You may even have to go find the previous owner and get them to sign whatever paperwork is outstanding.

Well your information might still be in the system... You gotta ask. If you didnt get the car smogged and didnt complete the title, then you would have never gotten anything... Atleast this is from my experience, I always needed to smogged the car in order to get the complete title...

I've been doing this with DMV at Arleta, CA they're so nice there.
