r-cein your luck is not that bad being that we are in the same boat now..i just found that i have a blown coolant seal on the 12a.
the RB carb is a holly 4barrel..the serling is (i think..) a stock nikki upgraded...i could be wrong tho.

the reason the engine smokes is because the oil seal o-rings are just simple rubber, the outer seals crack due to being brittle and the inners square off allowing oil to pass by. if 20W50 didn't help enough then yea, its to the point that it really just needs a rebuild.
carb cleaner to clean out the carb throats is perfectly fine. it also helps break up carbon buildup on the rotor faces.
