Exclamation HUGE Mazda Event@Laguna w/TRACK LAPS

When: Mazda 16 - 18

Where: Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

Cost for the Mazda Corral: $10 BUX!!

Mazda Corral Planned For Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca – Monterey Festival of Speed
Corral to present Mazda enthusiasts with great benefits & laps around the famed circuit
SALINAS, CA (May 6, 2008) – The 2008 Monterey “Festival of Speed” at MAZDA Raceway Laguna Seca kicks off over the May 16-18 weekend and Mazda owners have yet another reason to take in the action. The Mazda Owners Club of America and MAZDA have planned a Mazda Corral open to any Mazda owner & enthusiasts in attendance.

“We hope Mazda owners take advantage of the Mazda Corral at the Monterey Festival of Speed,” said Marc Miller, co-founder of the MazdaOCA. “Historically, this has been a very exciting event, with a mix of GT and formula car racing action as well as some beautiful vintage cars on track. Thanks to Mazda, we can offer those who are living the Zoom Zoom lifestyle with not only preferred parking and fellowship with other Mazda owners, but parade lap opportunities and some great free gifts.”
Sponsors of the event include the Mazda Owners Club of America (www.MazdaOCA.org), MAZDASPEED and Mazda. Several regional and local Mazda clubs have volunteered to help as well, showing their support.

Mazda Corral participants will receive plenty of benefits over the duration of the event. In addition to exclusive parking for the duration of the weekend, ticket-holders will also be provided with a Mazda “goody-bag”, meet & greet with Mazda drivers/teams and a daily pass for parade laps in your Mazda around Mazda Raceway, an opportunity that few people get.

“Recently, I had the opportunity to spend a few days at an enthusiast event in South Carolina attended by 350 Mazda owners,” said Mazda’s Kim Neal, responsible for the relationship between Mazda North American Operations and all the independent enthusiast and owner clubs. “Without a doubt, the events that our enthusiasts and owner clubs organize are not only a great place to meet other Mazda owners who share similar passions, but also an excellent way to learn more about the entire Mazda brand.”

Yeah we should definitely make a caravan. This is one event I want to attend before leaving California.

So besides the $10 ticket, what else do we really need? I assume this parade around the track is just at a very low speed, so I take it no helmet or roll cage is required? And I have no idea what exactly this corral is (or WHEN it is... is it a specific day, or the entire 16-18 period?), do we just bring our Mazdas and park together and get free goodies and lap the track?

I think the $10 ticket is all you need essentially and by going to the official site, you can purchase ticket packet's which include priority parkiing access to the event. This is set up for those attending the first day through the end I think.

But yeah, if possible let's try and organize a caravan of some sort to make the trip official.

Correct Per Person. The corral pass does not gain admission to the event. With the corral pass you get VIP parking, Mazda goods, exclusive driver meet/greets, and parade laps.

I'll be there but prolly not in the REPU.

There are what, four 3-rotor Rx8's in GT now? The GT class is very competetive and it should be another excellent race.

Something like that - yes. And they're doing well again this year, especially after victory at Daytona. Should be a good battle there with the Pontiacs and Porsches - and you know Mazda will be pushing for a win at their home track!

The nice thing about the corral parking is that it's typically right along the circuit, as opposed to the general parking. So you can hang out as a group by your cars and still watch much of the racing action. I wish I could join in - maybe in October if they do it again for the ALMS race.

I'm going down in my Miata early tomorrow morning.

Also, the Mazda parade laps are ONLY on Sunday - I verified this with the MazdaOCA organizers.

Even so, $10 for premier parking both days, goodie bags + more, wow - that is very cool.

cya there!
