Hey Cali guys: Traveling Rotard

Hey there Cali guys how's it going? So on Tuesday me and my brother set out from Dayton Ohio in our friend Teddy's t2 swapped FC. 2000 miles later after an eye opening, exciting, and stressful journey we have arrived in California.

We are making our way to Monterey tomorrow after a stay in Bakerfield tonight. So far I'd have to say I'm enjoying your state, just don't know how guys live with 91 octane.

My question was anybody game to cruise with us a few miles in the morning. Rolling shots are offered. Let me know.

Where are you going after Monterey?

Also, if you haven't decided on how you're getting there, might I recommend the 58 across to the 101, to the 46, then up the 1.

It really won't take that much longer than anything straighter you could take (if you know how to drive that car!) and you'll get a much better sense of California's beauty than driving the 5

Aftery Monterey we are flying home. We planned on driving to the coast in the morning and following whatever highway goes up the coast until 1.

Car has been running great till we got into Bakersfield. It died at a light and now it won't start unless we push start it. Thinking it's the starter, solemiod, or grounds.

go to autozone, get a ford solenoid for like a 70's mustang and run it parallel.
the solenoids on the second gens were a pain, and always go out. the ford one does the job and is easier to replace.

How DO you guys deal with Salt on the roads, Rust, and / or not driving your cars for 4 months ? We all have out "issues" to deal with... no state is perfect...

You got me there salt is pretty hateful. It must be nice to only have one season I need my snow though.

Finally made it to Monterey, our friend lives here, we were just delivering the car and then flying back Monday. Thanks for the tip on the solenoid, definitely good info we might need later when we try to work on it.

Had a run in with a California motorcycle cop on 101N. He didn't clock us for speeding but made me get out pop the hood and he asked all about the motor. I played dumb but it's hard to pass off a T043B a front mount, a koyo, an FD uim and empty engine bay (no emissions or powersteering). That was a funny conversation Not to mentioN the car is super load braps like it's job and emits a nice cloud of premix smoke.

The cop was not pleased to say the least lol. Supposedly my friend has a ticket in the mail for exhaust and intake.

Hmm cops are actually pretty decent here compared to Mid West.... Either way doesn't matter about emissions you are here for less than 3 weeks or whatever the crap time is. Also a ticket like that wouldn't be mailed home haha. I wouldn't worry about it.
