I got the same ticket man.. it sucked. I got the letter from the court, I got an extension on it to have enough time to put the stock parts back on. Time went by... a lot of procrastinating, and I totally missed my court date due to me being an idiota! After that, I got a letter from the court stating that the bail amount due is gonna be handled by a collection agency. It was for $600... After paying that off, I never heard from the courts, or the collection agency. I'm not sayin' do what happened to me... just dipped my 2 cents in... Makes me sad even talking about it.

I'm just glad I didn't have to change anything.

If I were you, I would probably take my chances and tell them you sold your car.

in my car, that is registered in pennsylvania and has military stickers on it, i had to pay $2000 to get the car in compliance, just to rounding up parts. that biggest pain in the *** is that the 95 rx7's dont have an EGR on the LIM. needless to say, that was a PITA putting that LIM on there so the EGR is visible. also, the catalytic converter and ECM are different in CA than anywhere else. i still didnt pass because my exhaust was loud. essentially, i was turning a car that was not originally sold in CA and making it a full blown cali-spec car. i went about 5 times until i passed.

...aaaand welcome to Calfornia.

When I first "officially" moved out here at the end of my tour out at the Stumps (1986), I was still driving my '73 Satellite, into which I had dropped a stroked and bored-out 383 Super Commando out of a '70 Cuda that an idiot friend had rolled out in the desert.

Come smog time, it had to go away. Simply no way at that time to get it into compliance without starting from scratch.

Yeah, as under the goofy rules of the granola state, an ancient car that was totally outlaw back then, would now be exempt... and a car that was only 6 years old then, is now a total PITA to keep legal.

Madness.

(Truth is, it was a terror in a straight line, but with torsion bar suspension and something like a 70/30 weight distribution, you didn't want to try to corner at any kind of speed... Looked like a fish, moved out like a fish, steered like a cow.)

Ka Chow! their called PIGS for a reason

other things that help detour cops are the Pink "donor" sticker on your drivers license. This shows that if you annihilate yourself in a crash, they can take your organs (including eyes) to help some poor hopeless soul. They did this to 3 friends of mine in HS who died from drunk drivers.

Also, if you take the drivers test to drive Ambulances, something EMTs have to do, that shows up that you drive rigs and cops notice that as well...

always start your story with "Officer, honestly, I .... "

all COPS, errr PIGS just want is for everyone to bow down and kiss their boots and "recognize" they have the powa to make your life miserable... that's the "other" motto they have.

Definitely sucks to hear about more crackdowns on import mods. Thanx for sharing the details of your battle with Johnny law. What was the cops excuse for pulling you over. Apparently it wasn't a loud exhaust since you weren't written up for that (not that they really need a reason besides suspicion).
