Gym-Ka-Nuh?
Adding a new wrinkle to the storied life of his FC3S RX-7, Kyle is going to be taking his former Formula Drift and current Redline Time Attack car to this weekend’s first Gymkhana Grid event at Hollywood Park. While we expect there to be a lot of 4WD cars, we want to make sure there is some Mazda rotary representation in Gymkhana.
What is Gymkhana Grid? The brainchild of Ken Block, famous for his Gymkhana and Gymkhana II videos which got about a billion hits on YouTube, it is apparently like an autocross, except it is really fast and involves elements of drifting, e-brake turns, 360s, dragging bumpers, tire smoke, and general hooliganism with a car. No wonder Kyle is going.
From the Gymkhana Grid website (www.gymkhanagrid.com):
The first event, being held August 7-8th in Hollywood Park, CA, will feature pro and amateur racers competing head to head, and testing the course layout with anything from a rear-driven sports car to all-wheel-drive sedans. For those new to the sport, there will be workshops and schools to help grow the awareness of gymkhana on the grassroots level.
We'll have videos and photos up next week from the event.

it doesn't matter that ken block and DC didn't invent rally or gymkhana. What matters is the fact that ken block and dc wanna make it mainstream in America! that's sick. Ken block is going around getting tracks built so that gymkhana stops just being something they do in other countries and become something all Americans are into. you need popularity for anything these days.

i;m local but I would rather go to Valley View Casino and get my free buffet with all you can eat lobster and crab legs. No waiting in line if you're an elite member like me. I get my thrill from drifting off Hwy 76 in my Honda Accord V6
