Edit: Yellow "could" be legal if the headlamps meet all of the state and federal guidelines regarding headlights as well as SAE. So it can end up being a fine line in the end as some of the federal info might state you have to be able to recognize a pedestrian at so many feet blah blah. Most people say that the only lights that meet all of the requirements are either white or off white. it would take alot of work to research it properly. If you really want to learn about headlights here you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headlamp

Good point. If you're not running DOT approved housings, then they got you on the headlights regardless of the yellow or non yellow.

For the record, it's generally accepted that the cooler the light (the more yellow in essence) the better the illumination. Thus why Fogs are often yellow rather than white so to give a higher intensity to shine through fog.

Eh...not completely true for the lower the K the better the illumination. 4300k which is the oem white companies use on new cars light the best. When you go lower it will penetrate better (fog/smoke/whatever). Just like if you go low enough into the Kelvin rating to where your headlights are RED, I can guarantee you that you won't see a whole lot at night.

I'm 99% sure that even in DOT approved housings you still have illegal headlights. You must have DOT approved bulbs in DOT approved headlight housings that are made for said bulb. That means if you're running any form of HID whether it's white/blue/yellow/etc it's illegal since it isn't in an approved HID projector housing.

However if you're using an H4 yellow bulb in a DOT approved H4 housing, still gonna be illegal since there is a restriction on what color your headlights can be.

BTW wikipedia isn't a valid source of information. Same reason college professors say you can't use wiki as a source for information on reports. ANYONE can modify the info, whether it's fact or not.

You should show more respect to authority. They might seem like ******** but if you did break the law you have no one to blame but yourself. If he makes a rookie mistake then prove it was his mistake and let him learn from it. You don't learn everything overnight and become a veteran the next day. I mean if you screwed up your order at Mc Donald's on your first day would you think you deserved to be fired or chewed out? Learn to take your punches and give them too. But be smart and pick the right fight.

If you hate cops so much and don't want them around then don't call them the next time your mom/sister/dog gets raped and murdered.

Everyone always hates on authority figures until they need them...

Agreed.

But cops, fair or unfair, are held to a higher standard than Joe citizen all things being the same because they wear that uniform. As presented by the OP, this rook wrote an "I think I'm right" ticket rather than an I know I'm right ticket. That's abuse.

This is the exact reason I don't put body kits and ricer looking things on my car. A cop can practically take your life away for no reason; which is why I do everything I possibly can to not provide a reason to get pulled over.

A guy I know got nearly beat to death in his own home by a cop and somehow got a DUI out of it when he had been napping on his couch for the past 2 hours. DA told him without serious cash to get a lawyer no public defender would be able to fight his case. 9 months in jail for nothing. No winning against the law without lots of money.

theres no way i can make it smog legal, so i plan on just paying the fine off in court... long beach is a ref and fix it ticket central!!!

I dont think any employee at mcdonalds has made a screw up bad enough for me to pay a grip in fines, make my insurance go up, or make me take time off of work and school to pay mroe fines in court because of a minor mistake, maybe a better analogy is in order? hmmm?

the only time i call a cop is when i have a break in, but i also have a .45 for that

I hope you are saying that's fucked up about people with ANNOYING yellow/blue/purple/whatever colored headlights. Cops are doing good getting people to put NORMAL headlights on their cars that don't blind people.

I agree, with ANNOYING yellow, blue, purple, red headlights. I have amber fog headlights like the old Mercedes Benz on my 510. I only use it when when I drive up to San Francisco foggy weather.
