FD Mechanic Needed in LAS VEGAS

My FD won't pull more than 6psi and i'm having a hard time impressing the local hotties j/k

anyone know where i can get a mechanic to solve this problem? must know the vacuum system on my FD... i'm pretty sure it's an easy fix, the turbo works fine, I think it's just a vacuum hose i stuck on wrong when i put the engine back together. I dunno... i need someone who knows the stock turbo systems like da back of his hand.

thanks for any help on getting a local mechanic. i'm in henderson and don't know if anyone here will know jack about the intricacies of an FD... i think i've gone about as far as i can go without special equipment or doing a side-by-side...

oh come on, there's not ONE RX-7 shop in ALL OF VEGAS???

this is just wrong... my car needs an FD tune-up with someone who's good with the powerFC and twin turbos... sigh... 'cause i'd NEVER take my FD to mazda... rather have a yugo mechanic work on it

anyone know anything about FD's in LAS VEGAS????

Other than maybe gonzz (Never used him myself and don't know if he works on FD's), the only thing close is in SoCal. Rotary Power USA in Gardena is good but always booked. Mazdatrix, TriPoint.

They are all fairly expensive, but DAMN worth it.

When I had my FD, I did my own work... The factory service manual + the forum + digital camera are your friends. Search for how to replace your vacuum lines with Silicone ( http://www.mazdatrix.com/C-SILHOS.HTM )

i did replace them with silicon long, long ago (2003)

i've torn it apart time and time again... i can NOT figure this thing out. i need an expert who knows what to look for. which line is supposed to be vaccuum and which pressure? when does the gate open/close? all that jazz...

maybe i'll take it to some place in cali close to vegas. is there a pro-shop near me in cali? i might as well get my power fc tuned while i'm there... make this car preform... since i got it...

my mommy said i have to stick with stock or effini turbos my mommy said i'll get better low-rpm response that-a way and my mommy told me that the fd3s's are so gutless down at low rpm that if i did single turbo i'd be super-sorry off the line.

anyone got any dynos to prove or disprove my mommy?

heck, if i could get a single turbo that out-performed a well-tuned syncro i'd chuck my twins...

don't tell my mommy...

gt35r with a .82 hot side will start to win the twins somewhere in the 3k rpm range.

do you care about massive performance below that?

You could always come to the Vegasmazda meet, I am sure someone there might know how to fix it. My husband is somewhat savy when it comes to cars and turbos and stuff.

or the vegasrotary.com meet...we meet every wednesday. Unfortunatly there are very few FD owners in town and as was said before, Steve (gonzz) Is your best bet. He mostly does FB and FC but he knows his stuff. You should start there.

thanks... i'll check gonzz out and... WHERE and WHEN do these two clubs meet?

and WHY aren't FD's much around Vegas? does Vegas hate FD's?? :O NOOOOO!

oh, and 3K rpm for the gt35r's don't sound too bad, but i'd like to get boost at 1.5k rpm i know, i'm dreamin' .... i guess my ultimate dream would be to have a 20b/c/d whatever... i love my fd but i miss torque

is there such thing as an AFTER-market twin (asside from the efini) that performs better? ya know, 25 lbs of turbo at, oh in dunno, 1000 rpm? j/k ... dream on

David

think about it this way... how often are you "racing" below 3-4k rpm? let me guess and say zero% of the time, so why would you care how much power it has below 3k? all you'd be doing is eating up the fuel economy from the quicker spoolup.

I'm the local FD guru per say, atleast I think I'm the person in town who has the most engine stuff done. I can help you out if you need to diagnose something or fix it, believe me I've had pretty much everything wrong with my car that can be wrong. Only thing I haven't touched yet is the suspension. Click the link in my sig for my FD build up

at the risk of redundancy, a bb gt35r with a .82 hot side will give you a boner.

what good are twins if they're non-sequential?

Why do you say that? Non-sequential rocks, I love em minus the little bit of extra lag they have. I wouldn't trade the simplicity for anything besides a GT35R
