Fd Intro -> Progress

I wanted to make my introduction to the community more complete but as it seems to be quite far from being finished and Im buying/selling/trading a lot, now seems as good a time as any.

So picked it up for 11,400. Old owner had to put legit price on the pink slip (yay $974 registration! ). And no offense to previous owner, but seriously, he was an idiot. He sold it because he couldnt get it to pass smog. Engine was rebuilt by rick (Rick's rotary) with 99 spec turbos and RB exhaust.

Kid put staggered wheels, metal shift **** cover, pettit pulley, k&n filters (unshielded), moved the battery to the back bin, banged a koyo radiator and greddy fmic in (over the ducted under the hood XSPOWER radiator from previous owner). Ac condenser core was beaten to ****. Boost pattern is 11/9/12 right now, probably from the bigger intercooler without tuning. The good was obviously the price and he had all the paperwork (so much money was thrown at this car in the past).

Since I bought it in Aug, pass headlight went flying (lol), after a few days at Ben's (Karack) we determined the purge control solenoid was bad, but apart from that nothing that should prevent it from passing smog. Took it down for a pre-test and was running 900 HC at idle (). He claimed if we just put the stock pulley on it would fix it. Well it brought it down to about 800. So rather than dealing with it any further (rats nest break down) we just put a power fc and tuned it down. End result 20 at idle and 0 at 2500 rpm .

Picked up a Mazdaspeed Shift **** on craigslist for $65 shipped.

2 speeding tickets puts a real damper in the project .

Found out today I have a bent brake rotor on my passenger side.

As for now, its a matter of trading/selling what I can to buy what I want. End goal is to keep this car forever, and to rock a very stylish (non tacky) set-up with the reliability as a dd and head out to the track/meets on weekends.

Plans
headlight covers (in the mail)
feed front bumper (in the mail)
feed side skirts
apexi power fc
full black interior w/base cloth seats (currently working on seats)
advan rg 17x9 +45 (currently working on)
yokohama s4 255/40/17 (all around)
looking at brembo rotors with hawk pads

very much later
99 spec spoiler
re-amemiya rear diffuser
feed hood
feed fenders
Paint it the dark gray metallic mica (like the 06 mazda 6 color)

Something I have been hating myself for is re-checking craigslist/ebay/rx7club multiple times in a day just so I dont miss out on a random great price. Its exhausting.

Congrats. Intercooler, turbo, intake, and exhaust upgrades, no matter how minor they may be by themselves, when added up require some sort of tuning, whether it be a minor piggy back controller, or a full standalone. I'm glad you're taking care of the car and clearly know what you're doing. Too many new members jump into the rotary scene with a 15 year old twin turbo FD and get in way over their heads. I'm very happy to see you're not one of them!
