DUI and california

ok, so i see signs everywhere that say if you see a drunk driver for you to call 911 (for a $200 cell phone charge). so, hypothetically speaking, say i saw someone drunk as hell pulling off the freeway last night obviously going home, how will he be get caught? would it be a ticket with a court appearance for the guy? i am just curious as to how all that works...

They would alert the local police or highway patrol and give them the license plate and keep a eye out for it. Back in the day there used to be a reward if they caught the one you called in.

if you call in a suspected DUI CHP will activly search for them. A few months back A family was killed by a drunk, who passed a nother car. The other car called 911, and chp was almost there, but a little to late. The drunk driver is now faceing 6 counts murder and his 4th DUI in 7 years! if you see any one who looks drunk, stoned, or any way impared just call 911. You can saves lives.

And I hope everyone has a safe and happy new year!

Who (what company) the hell charges $200 for a 911 call??!??!!?

Some company's charge $1-$2 monthly/use charge for emergency service.

Perhaps you missed the period and ment 2.00?

You buddy got screwed!!!! You can dial 911 on a cell phone WITH NO SERVICE PROVIDER, and it will still go through. That is because it is FREE. Same with a land line, if there is a dial tone, 911 will always work. If anyone is billing you, it is the cell phone service provider. BUT everyone must pay a 911 tax.

I have reported a few suspected DUI's to date and the CHP shows up in a matter of minutes. I usually follow the driver until the CHP shows up and then I proceed on my way.

I tried not to long ago. Coming back from a clib gig, I noticed this guiy on the freeway that looked loke he was having a epileptic sesure. No chit, never seen such radicalness. Not to many people on the freeway, it was 2:30am. I called like a good boy, It took more than 3 minutes to get through, and that sent up to Vallejo. I was on 880 in Hayward. By the time I got through, he was pulling off. I said "forget it. You guys suck!, you took forever and he is getting off. I am not going to follow him"...

I never got close enough to him, he was fking nutts on the road.
