Do you trust buying thing over Craiglist?

I'm thinking about buying a power fc from someone on craiglist. Since he lives couple hundred miles away from i was thinking about doing a paypal transaction... But with his price for the power fc... it seem kinda sketch. give me some input.

Could be a dead unit. It's hit and miss with used items.

I've mostly had good luck with Craigslist. But primarily have dealt in person for the transaction itself.

Ive never gotten burned on a cl purchase ONLY because ive only bought things that I could see/test in person. Unless the person is willing to give you a written guarantee of good operation, I wouldnt chance it!

I'm not a fan of craigslist and wouldnt paypal someone for an item thats priced much cheaper than what it should cost. If you go through with this, at least pay using a real credit card (not ATM w/cc logo) through Paypal to give you a little bit of security. Paypal wont do much for you if the PFC is junk since the seller can say "it was shipped in like new working condition and this noob must have installed it wrong." Your CC company (Visa, Mastercard, American Express...) is more powerful and may be able to get your money back.

In my opinion, Craigslist is full of cheapskates, liars, crooks, and prostitues

My rule of thumb, If they dont have a reputation to maintain, I WONT BUY FROM THEM...

rule #2....IF i cant buy it from there home, Im not interested (if ***** fake, broken ect...Im gonna be at your doorstep)

rule #3 If its not on ebay, or a forum where you can prove/show conversation between the two of ya about the item...from what i have read. Its hard to prove you got ripped off...The sellers could just say "the item was shipped" and paypal could give a poop less.

I go to craigslist for the local free stuff... It's difficult like any other online purchasing tool; it could be broken, dead, non-functioning, different, etc. At least if it's free, I didn't pay anything for it.

Craigslist has always worked with me... and as far as paypal and not seeing the person.

You do the same thing with the forums. However at least you can check if the person has a good or active roll in the community buying or selling.

Also Paypal takes provisions against fraud.

Like any business transactions, do your due diligence on the buyer/seller, etc. As some have already mentioned, have someone go with you if the item of interest is a high dollar amount.
