I am good with 138 but we are kind of at the mercy of the weather although last year it was a blizzard 2 days before the memorial and I believe Dave got the weather cleared up for us. Maybe he could work some magic for us this year as well.
We can have the 138 as a tentative route and we can always change it if need be.
Still waiting to hear something about t-shirts.

I'll be there again this year, can't believe time has gone by SO quickly!

Rain or shine, the rotorheads will be there. Last year was a perfect example (as Sandi mentioned), I thought we were screwed with the weather leading up to the weekend but at the end, the roads were pretty clear and the sun was smiling down upon us.

Growing Memorial Cruise

I am hoping that we will have more people than we had last year. The first year we had quite a few people and last year we had a few more. Maybe someone who knew Dave could tell a little about him and then some of the new members would feel more like coming. My dream is that it will grow every year and I know everyone gets busy but I just don't want him to be forgotten. Spoken like a true mom.

If you remember the great portrait that Jesse drew and many of you helped pay to have it framed as a gift for me. It is without a doubt my most prized possession.
I will bring the portrait and Dave's ashes(like last year) on the cruise.

Thanks to all of you for helping to keep his memory alive.

See you Jan 31st
Daves Mom

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all

regaurdless of the size of the run, Dave will never be fogotten. he had a large impact on the rotary community in person, on RX-7 club and on RX-8 club. I dont think anyone will ever forget that.

its been two years and I still see comments about dave here. Usually something along the lines of "I wish Dave could chime in, he would know the answer".

Two years later and you still see stuff like this.

Your son was exceptional. Truly one of a kind. Dont worry, he will never be forgotten!

^^^ the main problem is weather plays a big factor in what route we take... 138 is the plan as of now, but if its snowed over, we will have to make other arragements... so if it helps, heres the plan so far

-we meet at the church....
-we then take a cruise up hwy 18, to the "dave memorial" site (about 5-10 minutes up hwy 18)
-after about 1 hour at his turnout, we will continue up hwy 18 and merge onto hwy 138
-we will remain on hwy 138 for about 1-1 1/2 hours of very nice windy roads, through red road, and end up @ the 215 freeway...
-from there, we usually meet at a nice location for lunch

i hope that helps... thats the plan for now, but weather depending, it could be changed

well, my main story is still the sevenstock story..

i met dave at one of our local rotary meets a long while back.. and he showed up in his bridgeported fc.. i was astounded at the power and talked to him about building me one.. so from there we exchanged pms frequently, and we always ran into each other at mutual friends houses.... and the day came when i decided to build my dreamcar! i spent many many month acquiring all the parts and called dave to build me my dream motor... we became friends from the several visits me and him made to each others houses... i always rememebr him being so good to my daughter.. he loved kids!

well anways... i really ran into major time problems.. it was late september and i had only like 25% of the engine bay done, and wouldnt make it to ss9.. so dave talked me into taking the fc to his shop, and he would completely finish it and have it ready for ss9! unfortunatly i ran out of money around that time also..so i had to decline.. but dave persisted and said i could pay him whenever i got the money.. he saw how much i wanted this car there, and he found it in his heart to make my dream come true! which is an extrordinary thing for anyone!

he even came down to my house, and picked up my car, which was more than 60 miles away (thanks friz! i know you helped alot too!) ...so he took the car.... and after many, many headaches, he came through on the promise, and had my car ready in enough time for me to break in the motor, get it all fine tuned, take it to sevenstock.. AND WIN BEST FC3S of SS9! im just so happy he was able to be around to see his and my work recognized in such an honorable way! THANK YOU DAVE!!!!!!!! YOU DA MAN!

Vipers,
I had never heard the whole story of how you met Dave. That was awesome. he was truly gifted with cars and guitars. He wrote over 100 rock operas. but...the last 5 years of his life was definitely dedicated to the rotary world. The day before he died we were watching LOTR (yes all of them). He knew he was going to die soon. He said he felt bad that he would never marry or have children. He had the best heart of any person I have ever met. He was amazing with children (unless he had a headache). Thanks guys, I understand why all of you were so important to him. He was also a great friend, like many of you.
Sandi

At least this year I'll be coming in a 7. Hopefully the FD if the rear end is fixed by then, otherwise it'll be the new '82 FB...

Ty you'd better come out, you and Becca.
