CHP Vin# verification ques

so.. my car hasnt been registered for 6 years. there is NO record of it in the DMVs system. i already paid off the registration fees (which wasnt bad). Now i have to get it smogged. Well.. i went to my smog place a few weeks ago and they told me that i have to get the Vin verified at the CHP. ive already tried getting it verified at the DMV but they wouldnt do it cuz my dashboard doesnt have the vin plate. if i do take it to CHP do you think theyll say anything about my MODS? i dont wanna deal with another process. getting it smogged is enough. Obviously my car isnt smog legal at all... like most of us. Do they just check the VIN#s and nothing else?

just wondering if anyone else has gone through this. thanx

That's just silly. The VIN should be stamped on the firewall.

I believe you can go to the dealer and order a replacement VIN badge for your dash with their verification.

So Cal has been highly enforcing the smog legal street racer mods lately. I have even seen police department videos for San Diego and Long Beach police departments that show the local cops what to look for.

Good luck in getting one too look at your firewall and not noticeing that the car is heavily mod'd. Maybe you will get lucky with a CHP not being as stringent.

During DMV inspection, they will be checking your VIN as well.

I wonder if I should share my bitches at DMV.
