Check engine light bypass

Okay the time has come up for the wifes car to smog and the numbers are fine except the check engine light is on. Normally I would check it out and get rid of it the right way but work is killing me and I have no days off for the next two weeks. So someone please tell me how to bypass this. There's gotta be a way around this. Where I grew up they didn't care what light was on as long the numbers were low enough.

Just a thought, on the FD I'd pull the dash and disconnect the bulb... but from what I hear you have to have it on when you turn the key for 2 sec. and then go off... when the motor runs... which could be replicated with a simple timer circuit, but from the sound of you electrical prowice... I'd say that's not exactly trivial...

can't you just reset your ECU by shorting one of your fuses? it should keep the engine light off long enough to pass smog. Either way, try resetting your ECU before trying anything else.
