dude i ran into the same situation and my friend who sold me the car was checking every possible problem changed the ECU SPARK PLUGS BATTERY STARTER and nothing change still didn't start..... it turned out that i had no gas in the tank.....no joke this is a true story on how i would put it "My Freshman Year of being the NOOOB" with my current 7.

lets help him out guys

i guess most of the time why a car wont start deals with the electrical part of it

1) like having your door open and it drained out your battery
2) your alternator isn't doing its job in charging the battery and to power a car's electric system when its engine is running(thus will drain your battery in like 5 min making it dead)
3) check your fuse's if they are not burned out which can give you a short and drain your battery also
4) check that your positive and negative cables are properly tightened to the terminals
5) or your battery is dead.......

Okay so check it, i checked anything small and all the basic components and the Haynes manual trouble shooting guide everything checked out i have gas in my tank lol i would know if I didnt having gas in my tank. Okay so i was cruising down the 91 and i seen smoke come out of my transmission hole and then the car just died on me i checked for fuel check for spark took off the throttle body check the fuel injectors and pretty much looked over the whole car and nothing was bad I tested everything with a mulitmeter for resistance. It was good.

I'm pumping 91 octane

Btw guys buhrrito just had a shop put this motor in (I don't know him, I read it on the 2nd gen forum) I think its a TII motor and ported (I'm not sure, he'll have to verify that)

Buhrrito you need to let people know this stuff, things like, modifications, what shops have done work on your car, what year motor was swaped in, etc. The cars history is the most important part. Things like what you have already checked are not important because trust me you'll most likely check everything again, and again, and again, or you might have checked something wrong, which someone will help point you in the right direction.

Just like you said in your other thread, you used brake cleaner as starter fluid...do this test again with REAL starter fluid, carb cleaner and brake cleaner does burn but IT IS NOT starter FLUID and it was not ment to run an engine!

You probably flooded your motor. Pull the EGI fuse and crank the motor for 2-3 times for 7 seconds. Put the fuse back in and it should start. If not, you have bigger problems.

i have a problem kinda like this. the wire running to the starter was spliced so i replaced it and cleaned the grounds with sandpaper. the car started then died out, started right back up and died out. then the car wouldnt start again, i think i need to replace the wires for the starter to the battery. whatd yous think it could be? i have an 86 base model i believe.

yeah i fried some injector plugs when i had smoke from my tranny hole. check your harness if de-flooding doesn't work. if it's an S5 you can hold down the gas pedal all the way when starting it and it will cut fuel that way.
