can anyone in LA lend a hand? (coolant leak)
Well,
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...t=coolant+leak
She's finally hit puberty, and is having her first (coolant) leak. I am hoping someone from the LA area might have a little time to help me identify where it's leaking from---I'm pretty new to all this, but am eager to learn. My first FD, and my first time tracking down a leak...
Unfortunately i have no way of raising the car...but I do have some (pretty crappy) pictures, if it helps anyone:
below AST, near the back end of undertray (possibly the lower radiator hose?)
drops of coolant near rear of undertray//near oil pan:
last, the pattern of the dripping...
that little rock was dropped down in the opening near the rearend of the undertray, most of the puddles, though, seem to be further back and to the right/left....i'm guessing it could be the water pump.. sorry, i really am a newb..any help is appreciated
even better if anyone could make it out and see it up close! near the USC area
thanks yall

well we know it's a coolant leak sorry for the post i wasn't to clear on that...it was the pictures that do it no justice... And like mentioned above there are only a few hoses coming from the radiator...so that would be your first and best step to start with...keep us posted

take off the undertray first. then jack it up. .... look for coolant leaks. my guess is that it's either the lower radiator hose or one of the hoses coming off the waterpump housing. where in LA? I might be able to swing by and help if you needed.

If you don't have a jack, right now's a good time to buy one. Go to a Harbor Freight in your area and pick one up for <50 bucks. Jackstands are also ~30 bucks a pair too. Best investment you'll ever make for tools.

so did you find it? i came back to this thread becuase i remembered there is a coupler connection on that hose in the 1st picture. I think its closer to the air intake, but if your hose popped off that connection it could be spraying what is supposed to go to the overflow. That happened to me before.

haha........
so i go to pep boys and buy a jack and stands, shop light
spend an hour wrestling with those plastic screws on the undertray..
blah blah,
find the hose, which, of course, didn't need any undertray removal or jacking
+1 for newbs!
anyway, attached a pic of it...just had to let my car idle after re-filling, got it to OT, shut it off...and watched the waterworks:
is this something I can find at pep boys? any specific part number or name for it?

Heh, that's gonna be a tough one to change for a noob... Where is it leaking at? If it's right at the very edge of the hose, see if you can get away with cutting the split/broken part and installing it back as normal. It looks like you have a bit of slack, so you might be able to get away with it.
