Well, I did as Chris asked and checked out the thread

Painfully scrolling through 12 pages I finally found what Chris was refering to. Trouble is, it only validated that it was Chris that first issued the challenge.

Chris seems to be refering to Roberts post:

"Also when you decide finish your v8, look me up. I'll show you what a rotary does to a v8."

I see no $ challenge, I see no talk about rules of how a challenge is to play out. All I see is an offer to demonstrate how well his car performs now that his work on his car is done.

Cutting through all the Trash Talk, Cut and past, first specific comment about actually having a race, especially for money, comes from Chris the day AFTER Roberts comment. Looks like Chris thought about it and decided to formalize to an actual competition:

"Oh no, not a blown rotary engine, whatever shall I do?

Go run the 1/4 mile, have someone film it and ill do the same. If you run a faster time then me, Ill shoot ya a 100 bucks into your paypal...vice versa

Whoever loses is NEVER to post in this section again...agreed? Time to man up and put your money where your mouth is."

Response from Robert:

"Im up for it , if you can get it on the street. No excuses Chris!!!!!"

From Chris:

"My car is already running guy, just need to finish the exhaust. Your **** is still broken...lol See you at the finish line"

From Robert:

"Is that a challenge? Like I said Im always up for the challenge. Chris you can down talk to me all you want but when its when it come down to it you will ***** out. Its always been that way. 15 years of knowing you and it comes down to this. WOW!!! Good luck!!
Call me when you are ready for the challenge."

Observation: That dialogue took place back in February which bring a question to mind. It took Chris 5 months to put in his exhaust so he could then announce he was ready to exectute on the bet?

One more comment about that thread. Center of conversation is that a LS1 is more durable than a Wankle. Need I remind observation that was shared by Mazda execs at one of the past 7Stock banquets. That when Mazda won Lemans, it was not because they had the fastest car. It was because their engine didn't break.

Added, I suggest anybody thinking the Wankel isn't durable give Dave Lemon owner of Mazdatrix a call. Dave shared with me that the reason he got into Wankles in the first place was that when he was racing he noticed that his opposition was running the same engine over a number of races where as piston cars required an engine rebuild between each races.

The bottom line, if you properly maintain your Wankle, it will serve you well. If you abuse it, then it will break just like any engine would.

I can see that you are more concerned with being sarcastic then getting to the truth. Do you really think it takes 5 months to do an exhaust?

My son was born March 6th, do you think its possible I was busy adjusting to another child during that time period? Surely you understand (I assume you have kids) that a major transition period happens whenever you have another child.

Ill make this easy on everyone so that we dont have to spend anymore energy on this thread. When I get a job again and Im back on my feet, I will run at the track, post a vid and if Robert wants to post his vid then that would be great.

If he wants to win the bitch way then thats up to him.

Getting to the truth involves focusing on my question on the exhaust rather than the timing of the "challenge" posts? I thought it was about you asking me to research and confirm who first challenged whom to a formal money challenge race. I did, and clearly you did.

Given the birth of your son (congrats on that by the way) is a darn good answer about that time gap. It's fun for us all that once things normalized from that blessed event you still decided to stir up the embers and re-fire this situation up 5 months later.

Also, good luck in finding that job soon. Both for your family and to finally allow this to come to a conclusion for the entire rx7club.com audience. We're all interested to see how this LS1/Wankle challenge played out, money bet or no.

Now you're getting into semantics by suggesting that I challenged Robert first. Yes, I made it official by stating rules and such but he was the first to offend and call me out.

I will still follow through and post a video so people that have been waiting can at the very least see the car run down the track. I offered to pay for his track fee but he's unwilling to take it so thats fine.

For the record, I think the rotary engine is a great piece of engineering. I wont argue the reliability of a N/A 4 rotor but id definatley argue that of a turbo'd rotary.

One other thing to add, nature decided this wasn't going to happen tonight. Its pooring outside with severe thunderstorm warnings, so all of this was for nothing...lol

All I have to say about that is after the race I drove home with the a/c on. The turbo rotary is reliable if you get a good tune. I proved that already and so has Dave Lemon. After tomorrow I will post my time and video on the original thread. Just so I keeped my end of the deal. So Chris have the thread reopened! Again after today I will not be answer any of your rude antics
Good luck
Robert

Right, because you've had it running for such a long period of time.

Can I get this in writing?

BTW - Ive known since the day you ran it was a 12.4. I wasn't to worried about that time and I was pretty sure you ran race gas to pull that off....but we will never know now.

What do say hozzman? 5 months and lots of hard driving . yea I'd say its reliable. Chris you should check mazfest. A ls1 fc throw a rod out the side of the block. There goes to show you that no engine is reliable with high horsepower.

What was your 60ft time?

Dana and I both call bullshit on this time. You may have had plenty of witnesses see you run a 12.4 but I wonder if they saw you put race gas in your tank. One thing I know about you is you cheat.

I dont know man....I guess in a perfect world you could run that but on a 90 degree day with 320hp, it seems a bit off. A few of my quarter mile calculators say you are way off the mark and a few say you are right there. What do you think your car weighs?

Dont try to wiesel out of this, ill open the thread again when I run. Im down on my luck and because your a puss, you have to win by default? You are such a chick sometimes, just deal with my situation and accept that winning be default is the lame way to go out.

My car has more whp, more torque and a better driver, Im not too concerned over your 12.4 run. Ill give you props, its a good run but dont get to cocky.
