california smog check?
So, I've found 2 Rx-7 FD's for sale in the Sacramento area, but neither have been smoged in california. The Mazda dealership said I should definetly bring them in for a compression test before I buy either. There is one FD with about 20k in mods selling for $14k. The dash rattles, it pulls really hard to the right, and the clutch slips ( says he has an afte market one to give me.) It has been in a wreck, but was fixed (clean title) The 2nd one is for sale for $3k. It has a lot of electrical problems. The guys says about $400 worth. It has no other mods done to it though. Just 19' rims and a new steering whell. Clean title as well. Which should I buy?
ps: Does anyone know of a good place to take these cars to be check out in the sarametno area before I buy/ have work done to them. rotary specialist?

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
I would avoid the one that pulls hard to the right, as it sounds like it has been bent badly and not repaired correctly.
The 2nd one if he is only $3k probably does not run since that is about $10K low on the price.
And you need to smog either if you registered them in CA.

$3,000? Clean title? Sounds too cheap. If you are any kind of mechanic, it may be a fun project for you to work on. Heck, for $3,000 I'd think about making a track car.
