I don't got a front plate, da cars been in my family all my life and never a front plate.

The bumper doesn't even have holes for a front plate, no ones ever been pulled over for missing front plate either.

I think I'll just zip tie the plate to the rad area, but angle it alittle so the air flows in still, if its still visable to the cops that would work

Dunno, I just dont want holes in my bumper

QFT. I had to go through way to much bs to get a front plate after getting pulled over. If you have it, put it on. It'll save you some time and money for sure.

I've driven my 1 and 2nd gen RX7s with no front plates for 7 years and haven't been pulled over, in san jose, san diego and santa cruz.
So I wouldn't stress over it too much unless you don't want to give police even the slightest excuse to roll you.

Yes, you need a plate. Though I never got a ticket until I went to nor-cal. Cops don't seem to patrol neighborhoods and work/store parking lots, I guess. You can get the front license plate bracket at any Mazda dealer. It's a ripoff for 3 pieces of bent steel welded together, but still cheap enough. There are two holes under the bumper where it bolts on. You'll need nuts & bolts from a hardware store to bolt the license plate to the bracket.

And heaven help you if you parallel park. People will smash your license plate so deep into your front bumper you'll say, "WTF? You mean people have been slamming my bumper all these years whenever they park?". Originally I had the bolt facing my bumper so I wouldn't accidentally poke anyone, but eventually I got fed up and turned it around so the guy slamming into my parked car would get poked instead of me. Then later I got extra nuts to cap it and protect us both. Some people still managed to smash it so hard that they pressed the bracket itself into my bumper and left a foot wide indentation. The indentation never disappears 100%. Good luck...

Yes, by law it is required. My wife's car just got a ticket for it and it was parked @ the long term parking lot @ the LAX airport. Another time was at Venice beach, I was in a long line of cars pulling in to the parking lot and a cop on foot patrol told me to pull towards the curb (losing my place in line into the parking lot) and he cited me for not having a front plate.

The other night I got pulled over. It was totally being pulled over by profile (driving the FB in my avatar). Cypress police. Fully expected to be sent on my way since I knew I didn't do anything.

To my surprise I was given a ticket for failure to signal for a lane change when I absolutely did. I knew he was behind me, so I'd have been crazy not to. That was a chicken **** ticket, it was a total fabrication, and I got very loud making sure the cop and his partner knew it. I don't mind getting a ticket for something I did. I consider it simply a enjoying my car tax. But to issue a ticket under false pretenses is Bull ****!!

I'm really looking forward to seeing that guy in court!! And I don't intend on stopping there!

What an ***!!

PS Yes you have to have a front license plate. If you simply park your car in a public area anywhere in LA, expect to find a ticket on your windshield when you return.

The cities that have red light photo tickets and the cities that have radar/speed photo tickets make it a big deal to have your front plate, as that way they can take a picture of the front of the car (including the driver and front plate) so that you can't worm your way out of the ticket.
