buying a t2 advice

Good idea or bad idea to buy a t2 that ran **** but has been sitting for the last 7 years covered In The back of a shop. I really only want the motor. The motor hasn't been started in 5 year.

Discuss please.

if its in a shop Adrian have them do a compression test simple. 5 years is a long time for a motor to be sitting. I would be a little cautious of stuck seals and rust in the engine if it had any coolant issues.

well you only want the motor right. First things first is the compression on that motor if it has great compression for sitting that long chances are its good. Worst case it has a blown coolant seal and a simple atkins oring kit overhaul can fix that.

If you are going to fire it up just to idle and see if there a coolant seal failure screw that old gas. Unless you want to drain the tank , put gas to then realize that motor is garbage you just wasted your time.
