best shop near Monterey?
What is the nearest rx7 shop to Monterey, CA? I am stationed at the Presidio of Monterey (defense language institute) and if I buy a 7 I won't really be able to work on it myself much. I just want to find out if it will be worth it to try to keep one here. I'll be here for at least another year and a half.
I think you will have to come closer to san jose honestly. I have a friend with FC in Monterey, stationed there. PM me I can shoot you his info and you can ask him. But i doubt anything over there.

Monterey doesn't have any good rotary shops. The closest you'll get is the Mazda dealer out in Seaside, and I highly doubt, that those mechanics there has worked on a rotary engine.
I am willing to drive a few hours away for major repairs/upgrades. But my free time is limited to the weekends, if that. Learning fluent Korean in a little over a year isn't easy. I was gonna buy a 7 and just keep it back home in NC but I don't think I can be that far away from my car for that long.
ARD T2, is your friends FC red. If so i've seen it before.

San Jose is the closest rotary shop hub. Honestly, if you don't want to work on the car yourself, you shouldn't be buying a FD. You'll have to do a lot of work yourself or spend a grand a year on repairs alone.
It's not that I don't WANT to work on it....I actually prefer doing all the work myself. It's just that I live in a military college type environment so I don't really have a place to do major stuff. I would either have to find someone that would let me use their place or find a shop. I've always wanted a 7 and I don't want to let this situation stop me. The only good thing is that I can't really drive it during duty hours so i won't be putting that many miles on it.
