Best price for Royal Purple (norcal)?

I called a few places here in the Bay Area and found Napa Auto Parts had the best price near me:
$5.50/qt for 10W30 and 10W40
$5.82/qt for 20W50

Anybody know of a better price out here? (one of the other places I called said 20W50 was $7.99/qt, wth?)

That is funny, the stores I work at don't carry it as a stocking item. I paid a little over 5 dollars a quart for my cost +10% for 15w-40.

I bought it from the Napa Auto in Mountain View, if that helps. The guy there had it brought over from the Campbell store, according to my phone convo with him.

I also saw that they stock Redline for $7.75/qt. I think that price was for the 10W30, not completely positive though.

Yeah, I don't think Royal Purple is a normal stocking item in most Napa's, but we can get it.... Yeah we stock some redline products... but I don't think we have the oil.

Wow, that's a good price! I'll wait and see what his feedback looks like after he's finished more auctions.

that's 15/40 diesel oil, but it'll work.
and you can always email him and find out about whatever oil you want.

since we're on the synthetic subject;

if you're gonna use synthetic, why not use torco?

1) Never heard of it. :P I'll check it out.
2) Previous owner used RP, so instead of changing the type of oil used, I continued on with it by using the same oil 20W50 RP (I was thinking of going to 10W30, but I recall reading somewhere about RP being slightly on the thin side, can't recall where I read that)

In all honesty, all the talk about Group III this, Group IV that, and PAO whatever has my head spinning. I figure RP is a safe choice and is reasonably priced for a synthetic.

i've used torco in trannys and diffs before and it made it smoooooooooth!

in the tranny, it put RP and redline to shame.
