Where in Cali are you? There are different places to recommend depending on what part of the state you're in.

A Reman from Mazda would probably be the most reliable. Be ready to spend 5g's plus on one though.

If your in NorCal, there's a guy who's username is Karack on this site. I did a little reaserch on this subject a few months ago, and from what I've gathered, he's got a great rep with a ton of happy customers. I can't say how busy he is right now.

A reman motor from Mazda list for around 2500 (n/a) not sure for the turbo model. if you go to Rotary Reliability and Racing tell them Kevin sent you the only problem is they have a long waiting list right now.

why not reuse the irons and cermet coat them... new rotors (ceramic coated) and housings (cermet), and all new seals. ~$1k less and a hell of a lot better engine.

or just rebuild the one that just popped...

what went wrong with it? if it was an apex seal, you can spend $7-8k on a beautiful new engine and guess what...it'll pop. find and fix the source of the problem before you blow that much money or you'll end up like the rest of the ls1 converts

I Dont want to say who built the motor just yet but i got like 3000 miles on it and the rotor bearing gave away. So thay told me to send it back to them and thay would fix it. It sucked cause i just moved to CA like the week befor so i had no tools yet. I spent like 400 on tools too take the motor out spent my money to ship it, it got there and thay took it apart and told me all this would cost to me was the water seals on my part. The next day the story changed and it will be 900 then the next day thay told me it will be 2000. So thay did not not stand behind their warranty so i lost so much money plus the shipping for no reason. So the bottom line is this dude lied and the craftmanship sucked from the beginning anyway. So this time i need to go with a good place and a good motor.

sounds like Atkins

*ducks*

btw, a standard motor is good to 400+RWHP if built right, don't waste your money please...rotor bearings do not fail for no reason.
