Yeah I love wrenching on my cars and even friends for a hobby. But doing it on the daily isn't so much fun.

how many mechanics you know drive around in BMW's and mercedes( THAT THE OWN, NOT WORKING ON ) Or come home to 2 or 3 bedroom story houses and turn on their 60" HD TV and enjoy their salt water aqauriums for an hour before bed? or how many mechanics do you know are traveling to europe for the summer?

exactly. Being a mechanic earns a livable wage, but in the end, its back breaking work for a salary that gets you by.

It's not.

To the OP: If you're an RNA, keep working in the medical field and become a nurse, you're already almost there. I know people in both industries, both young and old, and trust me, stick with the nursing field. The job is definitely mentally and physically stressful, but not as physically stressful as being a mechanic, and the rewards in the medical field are much greater than being a mechanic. Make wrenching on cars your hobby, not your career. Good luck!

whatever you do please dont go to WyoTech formerly Sequioa in Fremont. Way too expensive and you dont learn as much. Honda has a program at DeAnza i believe and Toyota has a good program at Skyline. I personally went to the Toyota program at Skyline. Good program and its cheap.
