It's one of the more restrictive aftermarket catbacks. Most people like it because it's a big improvement over stock, and not as loud as most of the less restrictive units. Looks pretty stock too. I have one, and I like it a lot. I bought it because its fairly quiet.

Gas mileage observation

ON a recent drive to Vegas I averaged just over 15 MPG with a new cat installed. To experiment, I then swapped back in my obviously less restrictive Racing Beat downpipe and presilencer in my Auto Vert and measured mileage going through a full tank of gas.

Calculated mileage driving to and from work (which should be less efficient) improved to 17.6 probably because the engine wasn't working as hard. As gas approach's $4 per gallon, although the CARB wouldn't approve, another reason to run a less restrictive set up. Nice side benefit to go with the very well noticed improved performance.

Their restriction if any, is realtive. First off they are a straight through 3 inch mandrel bent design. This is the same as many of the other catbacks on the market. In comparsion, something with a 4 inch, or duals, should be the only things that will significantly out flow the racing beat model. They are more quiet because the muffling canister is gynormus!

The real question is how much HP are you going for? if you are looking for a 400RWHP single turbo FD, then I do not see this exhaust as a restriction. I ran the RB catback on my single turbo FD, and it put down 400HP at 1bar. If you are going for an all out squeeze every pony out of the car, then an open exhaust would yield more horsepower.

I agree with Jesuscookies on this one. I have personally seen a several FD's with 400whp+ using the Racing Beat single tip and dual tip cat back. It is a full 3" exhaust and in theory will flow just as well as any other 3" out there. The best I've ever seen was 446whp with the Racing Beat dual tip. So, I wouldn't worry about this being a restriction in your system unless you are shooting for over 450whp.

I don't like RB. If you ask me it's crap. I swapped it in place of my HKS DP/resinator and I lost a whopping 1psi of boost. Its loud and I lost power. Ti's the weak sauce. My cousin has it on his FD, sounds bad too.

Xzyras, we are talking about on FD's here not FC's. I don't care for it on FC's, but it's a great performing exhaust on the FD.

Haha, come on, I only have FC's... I don't know about the DP/MP, but the RB single tip catback with another system on the FD sounds bad as well. His car sounds like a honda, with a bad idle. But other than that I don't know, performance and boost increase ect... Sorry, I just dislike RB products.

Regarding Racing Beat for FC TII's

Are we talking about the downpipe/presilencer replacement,or the full replacement exhaust as inferior results?

I suggest that you read up on exhausts. Lots of good info here:

I replaced the dp/mp only, I kept the N1 single and I lost 1.3psi of boost. And it was loud as all heck. Inferior results will come no matter what when you use inferior parts. I put my HKS system back on, and all is well again. I think in an effort to make you buy their products only, they make there DP to work with there resinator only. So their DP shorter and the resinator longer. So you must buy all from them, and that ti's the weak sauce.

I like the RB dual tip as it looks stock and cops won't target my car for the obvious fart can. Loosing a few hp is less of a headache than being harrass by cops and asking to pop the hood since they now have probable cause that the vehicle is modded.
