Of course its not. But its all I have had the chance to do.

Honestly, I think the best stretch would be the highway between banner grade and ocotillo wells (whatever its called). Its miles and miles of straight highway seperated by tight windy portions every so often...with no crosstreets and virtually no traffic for 100 miles.

When the Sd RX-7 club cruised through there, I only remember seeing one car in the whole 100 miles.

Here we go, highway 78....to 86...to ocotillo wells. Heres one particular 20 mile stretch of open road.

Johnson Valley.

I was there this weekend for the Rockin XJ Jamboree, and we travelled on this long, straight road for about 50 miles.

There is also a dry lakebed, but I don't know if you can get to it with a 7, you might need to trailer it there.

My Last trip out to El-Mirage

I hope you don't have any fillings that you're fond of, since the road to el, is a washboard on crack....

In that case, I'll bring a box of band-aids just in case.

somebody double check my math on this...

8500 rpm /.719 5th gear = 11126.56 driveshaft rpm

11126.56 / 4.1 final drive = 2713.79 wheel rpm
tire diameter (245/45/16) = 24.68 " * pi = 77.532"

2713.79 rpm * 77.532 "/rev = 210406. "/min

210406"/min * 60 min/hr = 12624370. "/hr

12624370 "/hr / 12"/ft = 1052031 ft/hr

1052031 ft/hr / 5280 ft/mile = 199.25 mph

i need to bump the rev limiter up to ~86-8700 rpm to really nail the 200mph mark. obviously, i don't want to leave the engine at that speed for very long... s4 rotors are slugs.

El Mirage

Dave, you should hit up El Mirage. Its the only place where you can drive as fast as you want infront of a park ranger without getting in trouble. Here are some pics of our last trip..Jeff

Excuse my ignorance, but where exactly IS el mirage? I looked it up, but just found reverence to some obscure town...and I have no idea where that is, either

How far do you think it is from san diego?

Dave, you can borrow my diffuser if you'd like. Let me know in advance so I can get the day off of work for this.
