Is anyone going to Mazfest 2011?
Nice. Don't need a transponder. They have a laser that trips when you start and end the course. You see your time on the display that is mounted on top of or next to someone's van/truck/SUV. You then have to remember and/or write down your time on your own... it's really informal. You don't have to work the course and you can make many runs. That is the good part. The course is pretty short/tight tho...
i just bought a house about 3 exits past cherry on the 10. so if anything yall are welcome to come kick it there
so im gonna need about $300 for that day... sounds like a plan!!
^ yea we can leave and come back whenever we want, i think theres a huge gap around noon for lunch.
don't forget the $5 for racing tape for your numbers, gotta have that!

I'm currently toying with the idea of trying out autocross, as a complete and total newb to driving in an organized event.
Don't know the first thing about autocross except that everyone says it's a lot of fun, and it's unlikely to mung up your car unless you're careless. Anyone care to advise me? It's not like a stock SA is going to be 'competitive,' I'd just be in it for the lulz.
Is it possible to do autocross and enter the car show?
Or would the auto-x have the car out thrashing when judging should be going on?

I've been pushing for a Laguna Seca Mazfest for years. ALMOST got it this time, too.

I don't think it's possible to do both
The auto-x is a good introduction for ya, although running in a beginner's group out on the big course is not a bad thing either.
So they're currently accepting volunteers for random stuff-- I'm waiting for correspondence on this to see exactly what they need. I will post an update when they get back to meh
