Good VTEC or bad vtec?

How does the RX-8 respond to porting, by the way? Did you port the intake side or exhaust? Is there any torque to be gained? less than 200 tq is just not much fun, IMHO...

the motor wasn't broken in yet, so power should come up a bit. 9% overall gain with improved fuel economy. all i basically did was make the engine more efficient. it's not sucking in a bunch more air, it's just using the air it does suck in more efficiently. i'll get more aggressive with the next one i port. this one was a documentary style job.

primary ports were extended just a bit, but total port closing timing was about the same on the auxilliarys. most of the work was done on the exhaust runner entry, but i did clean up the intake at least.

this was on an otherwise stock car. we'll do an ecu, tuning, exhaust and some other stuff to see what kind of difference they make with the porting. i wanna try to hit 35-40% whp gain with all the mods and still pass smog, with improved fuel economy, and believe it or not, LONGER ENGINE LIFE.

no torque graphs because the rpm pickup was all nutty. we had to base the hp from the speed plot.

and good or bad vtec? dunno, depends on if you like that sound. it's a little raspy, but livable.

That's some cool stuff, GuitarJunkie. It would be really interesting to see (and hear) how the Renesis engine responds to supercharging.

nice hood , vipers. The small vents remind me of a certain Subaru that I used to own.

I guess you can consider this a bump.

just a reminder that there is a meet this Sat:

When
Jan 15th 8:00 A.M.
Location
Pirate City Tattoo Parking lot accross from Pep Boys on E street In San Bernardino
Who
all rotary and rotary curiouse people and cars
Why
cause its fun
What are we going to do
dont really know yet, figured we would play it by ear, and just do what everyone feels like doing at the time. just hang...... sure...... go on a drive..... sure, what ever.
also we will most likley hang out in the parking lot untill 9:00 to give people time to show up. i know one person in paticular that is coming from far and would really like it if we dont just leave right away in case he is running a couple minutes late.

more direct directions

168 S. E street
Sanbernardino 92401

across from pep boys, so if you see a big pep boys sign, your there!

I put a map at the bottom of the web page
http://www.piratecitytattoo.com/door/

if any one needs to get ahold of me, just send me a PM.

not to turn this thread into a for sell thread but if you have not already purchaced a ACT, i have a stage three clutch masters for sell. its the one that i just pulled out of my race car. it has not been used. (unfortunatly) (with the exception of pulling the car forward)

anyways, hope you can make it next time! and you are more then welcome to come hang out more then just the meet.
anyways, talk to you later.

true... true.....

Vipers and several other people have mentioned that we should try to make it later. the only reason i vote for 8, is because the last three meets its seems like a lot of people have plans around noon or so, so i figure if we make it at 8:00 then this gives us a little more time.

anyways, we will talk about it more on sat. and yes still meeting at 8:00 at least for this time.
