That's the spirit. shoot, the pix was like 480x320 so i couldn't see what you were sharpening (or one AGGRESSIVE SANDING) with that block. come kick it...i cook a mean bbq.

sharpening apex seals is the coolest thing........you give it more extra sharpness and make all kinds of crazy power.

the only thing you should be "lapping" are the side seals to clearance them....not sharpening anything....

That's the most annoying thing about rebuilding. No one sells brand new side seals in correct length... which is why I bought a bench grinder.

 

usually i use 400grit sandpaper but i decided to give the sand stone a try...yea i dont like the sand stone at all....

only took me about an hour to clearance all the side seals they dont come pre-finished for a reason...every side seal groove distance from corner seal to corner seal is different

 

ahahahaha, its called a sand stone? my bust. i've only used it to sharpen my throwing knives and have only heard it used as such...****, i knew you were doing SOMETHING with those seals. and forgive my FOBness, the term "lapping" escaped my mind.
