CA Albuqurque New Mexico Trip in FD :)

sooo excited cant sleep. we started to prepare for our trip and packing all the clothes for now. not much we can fit in the car anyways but its something to get out of the way. we are leaving later on in the evening around 6-8ish for a 12hr drive on the I40. this is the first time ive ever taking a rotary this far. ive taking it to vegas and back without it blowing up and made it just fine.

gonna check all the essentials before our trip. the only bad thing is that i dont have ac need to get new hoses. its not the first time that i visited, just not in the fd before. ill take some shots of the road trip and of the way...

What's the mod on your FD? the furthest I've driven my stock FD was to Salt Lake City, Utah. At the time I only have a 3in. dp. No cooling upgrade. When I got in town I started noticing a coolant leak. It wasn't overheating, and luckily it was just the water pump gasket. Found a shop and they replaced the gasket for $300 or so.

anyways have a safe and fun trip

we left yesterday at around 8 and got here at around 8ish. we got to see some light to moderate rain and some light snow right before going into flag staff. i was looking at the pfc controller and the aor temps were around 22c at the higher elevations and the water temps didnt get over 85c. before i did the trip the car would knock lot. i did some inspections and fixeed a few hoses and it made a big difference.

heres the nice part... since we left home the car wasnt turned off for the whole trip! the starter didnt work so we jump started the car lol.

over all the car handled and did great. not too bad for a motor that i built

since we left at night there wasnt much to take pics of. but i did manage to take a few pics while we were there...

just about to arrive in abq...

man i guess there isnt that many rotor heads out there but i did manage to meet at least one person in abq. bad thing that his car was out of commission because it had no exhaust. and i did see one clean stock fd with crome rims lol.

i took the fd and my gf to see the sunrise on sandia peak. located some 10kft above sea level. it was the best drive so far in the fd and it did good.

Smile

i fixed the starter when i was there. but its nice how i didnt turn off the motor for over 12 hrs, like a mini lemans race.

i was surprised at the gas mileage i was getting but i guess ill never see that here in the city. when we left home to barstow it only gave me almost 100 miles to a half tank. later on the trip when we filled up a half tank gave me like 160 at the most.

i took more pics on the way back since we left in the morning.

taken when we left abq
