90 FC sputtering when started HELP

So this morning I started my car and it sounded really funny.
First it revved up really slow and then looked like it was gonna cutoff but settled at less than 1k rpm idling really roughly.
The exhaust kept popping and popping.
When I tried to touch the thottle it would rev up slow but make a backfiring noise immediately when I released the throttle.
It sounded really really sick so after about 30 seconds I cut it off.
At first I thought someone had jammed something in my exhaust to limit the flow but, I checked that and there was no restriction.
I am hoping for a clogged cat or wacked out O2 sensor but it doesn't sound good at all.
One thing I remembered from driving the other day was that at highway speeds if I backed off the throttle it would backfire immediately. All I had to do was let off the throttle at all and it would backfire. That seemed weird to me.
Another variable is that I added a silencer recently but that has never affected how the car runs before.
Any ideas on what has happened?
I am gonna have to get my car towed.
Anyone know a good shop in SFto get my car towed to?

How about OPAK racing in SSF?
Has anyone taken their RX7 there?
I know they always have 3rd Gens there.
