Question for Admins

I'm not sure who the admins are so I'll post this here. I would like to have Hats made with the "RX7club.com" logo embroidered on them, and offer them here to members. Am I allowed to do this? I dont want any trademark or copyright issues.

Well, looks like the admins dont care. I'm going to have a batch made and if anyone has issue with it I'll give them away for free (you just pay shipping).

Max,

Before jumping knee deep into your hat endeavor, have you reviewed the forum FAQ? Specifically, take a look at Advertising on the site.

To quote one of the talking points: "3. Group Buys for products ARE considered advertising, and must be paid for and arranged for via AutoAdvertiser@internetbrands.com. If you wish to organize a Group Buy, again please contact us at AutoAdvertiser@internetbrands.com for more information."

Therefore, contact AutoAdvertiser@internetbrands.com and get approval before going forward with your group buy.

Lastly, be patient when making a request in this type of thread. Our Admins and Mods do care about the forum! We are a volunteer corps of RX-7. So slow your roll before claiming that "we don't care." Waiting 8hrs (approx) for a reply then granting yourself approval may not be a wise decision. In the future, there is a list of Moderators and Administrators at the bottom of each forum, see the box that says "Moderators". If you need to contact one then look there and send a PM. Names in Red are Super Moderators/Administrators while names in Black are Moderators. Note: Not all moderators have access to each forum sub-category.

Does that answer your question?

Thanks Gen2n3,
I have written to IB and asked permission to use the RX7club.com logo on a small run of hats, that I will then sell at my cost (not looking to make a profit). If they want a fee or a portion of the sale then the price might get too high. I did write to a couple Moderators before posting this thread, but they advised me to contact the Admins. I didn't know the names in red were Admins.

Max, no worries! Glad to be of help. I recall many years ago that another member sold polo shirts (maybe t-shirts too) with the RX-7Club logo. I still have them but over time, they um... shrank!

I don't think you should sell yourself short. If you design, promote, and deliver a product or service to customers then you should be justly compensated for that effort! The question to answer is what price point are you targeting? I am not much of a hat guy but I may be interested in buying one just to support another member's idea and promote our community.

If you have not received a response from IB then our IB representative may be able to better direct you to the right person. You may send a PM to Robb M. (include the period after the M). Again, if you do not get a reply in a reasonable time then reach out to Robb for further guidance. He is very helpful and approachable. Feel free to mention me during your conversation with him. BTW, I receive no benefit of the mention other than helping a fellow forum member!

Best of luck to you on your endeavor! And if I don't see your group buy thread then shoot me a PM so I may check it out.

George really covered the majority of what I could add, however I wanted to follow up on this and see if all of your questions had been answered and if you needed any further assistance. It would be great to see a group buy on these hats!

Well, last Monday Mario gave me Rob M's email info and I wrote him a long email asking for permission and guidance. I haven't heard anything back yet.

This is the hat I want to make, btw, Shown here in navy...

I had the "club.com" in white but the embroiderer gave me this proof in baby blue to keep it 3 colors (lower price). I will have it done in white when I get permission to make these for the members.

I think it looks great. You can pm RobbM directly or if you would like I can direct him to your thread and have him contact you personally.

I'd appreciate that mazdaverx. I PM'd him (I said email before) but haven't got a response.

I wanted to follow up with you as Robb M. contacted me. Your request has been sent up to the board to decide if you can sell the hats without requiring ylthat you pay to do so. If it's a one time run, and it were completely up to me, I would say yes to it. But it's not my decision to make, I'm sorry.

Thanks Mazdaverx, yes I talked with Robb a few days ago too. We'll see. I'm not planning on making this a full-time business... I already work 50+hr week, plus my boy's soccer and Scouts, plus I'm a shotgun instructor, plus I have this 85 GS on jack stands in the garage, plus.....

This started because I wanted to get a single hat made for ME, but then I thought that lots of other forum members would like one too. I was planning to get 25 or so made and when they're gone, they're gone.

I think it's a great idea!! I would be on board with buying one if it all goes through! I have a wife and 6 kids, work 2 jobs, and have a bunch of project cars here to work on. I completely understand where you're coming from with balancing work and home life.
