HKS T04R Kit

I have heard some great things about this kit, but how much of it is true, and what is the cost, since HKS = $$$$$. Someone on here said full boost by 3600 and capable of over 700 rwhp. If this is true, that in kit form I can expect that performance, then sign me up. Just wanting to hear any other accounts, or if anyone has one if they're out yet. Thanks.

HKS T04R Full Turbine Kit is new for the 3rd gen for 2002. HKS Goods Master list the turbine size for this kit as T04R 63T A/R 0.81 "cut back." "Cut Back" is some mod they did to the exhaust side of the turbo supposedly to prevent pressure uprising. Supposedly to help spool up. List price is 465,000 yen.

From what I this kit is a nice step up from the TO4E kit that they offered and more streetable than the T51R KAI 56T A/R 1.00.

The kit includes turbo, HKS Stainless manifold, HKS Stainless Race Wastgate, Mild Steel DP, Wastegate goes back in to exhaust does not dump to atmos, oil and coolant lines, filter and piping to stock ic location.

The Kit retails for around $5600. I talked with HKS and it will be here in the next few weeks.
Not sure if its worth that much money.

$3550 is sounding pretty good now, and no mild steel downpipe.

Do the HKS turbo kits still allow for the airpump to be in place? I have heard that the T51Rkai allows for the airpump. Anyone know?

Im guessing you will be able to keep the airpump like on all their other kits.
The only thing that sucks is its in the price range of the T51 kit which is outrageously expensive. They need to make it comparable in price to the T-78 if they want to sell those kits.

Im still going to get one and see what its like, but will probably sit on it forever.

I'll post a pic of the new T04R kit tomorrow. Looking at the piping it seems to allow for the airpump. Oh comes with a real cook HKS heat shield too and joints that have HKS on them.

Here's a reply from HKS USA,

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brandon,
The retail on the T04R kit for the 93+ RX7 is $5,690.00. $850 less than the $6540 MSRP T51R kit. Pricing is not relative to the turbo charger size. Just because a turbo is physically larger than another or capable of more potential power doesn't mean it will cost more or less. Each kit will have different spool-up/max power characteristics for the user to decided which will suit the car/drivers needs. The HKS/Garrett T04R cutback (clipped turbine wheel version for rotary engines) has shown better mid/top end torque, better mid/top end power output, better boost response and less back pressure than a Mitsubishi T78. This is due to newer and better wheel and housing designs. The kit includes:
-Stainless SUS304 manifold
-HKS T04R cutback A/R .81
-Special Racing Wastegate (50mm)
-Intake pipe with Super Mega Flow Filter
-Down pipe
-Wastegate return pipe (not all turbo kits have this, exh gas will not enter the car) large dia for boost stablilty
-stainless HKS stamped heat sheild
-i/c adapter pipes
-other related hardware for install
When we receive the kit we will varify if the smog pump fits, the Japanese manual states it will fit on Japanese domestic models.
