i have everything minus oil seal o-ring inserts and apex seals. i have all the installation gaskets as well. you will have to be specific on which parts you need for me to get a quote for an engine rebuild, some people use less some people more.

nope, quite the contrary. if i move on with my life i may actually have time to work on my car again. eventually i am going to yank the motor, pin it, use 2mm Goopy seals, make another set of seal savers for it, install the short snout M90 supercharger and dial in the twin charged setup to hopefully get good low end response and still have a ~500whp torquey daily driver that is 100% reliable from everything i have learned over the years.

it's small and less than breathtaking, i doubt you're missing much. in cali had twice the square footage and paid less per month, another reason i'm getting less than nowhere here. this shop is 1800 sq/ft, my old shop was 3200 not including office. i used to have space for 8 cars now i barely get by with 3-4 feeling like a mouse in a maze.

$1200/mo not including garbage or utilities.

strangely enough as soon as i threaten to close i get people beating down my door. why does this always happen? i really hate sounding like a whiner or seemingly looking for handouts, this is hardly my intention. everything is still for sale.

I hear you Ben. I only met you once at your shop and you def seemed like a good guy. My buddy owns a auto shop out here in vegas and he's been hurting lately too. He gets all kinds of cars in other than just performance builds but still has to work pretty much 7 days a week to have the shop and have a lil spare cash to take home. Its almost best just to work out of your own home garage with this economy. About the 500whp dyno you did, yeah that doesnt really phase the honda scene here in vegas, since it seems like theres soo many 9-10's second hondas all over town.

hate to beat a dead horse, but yes.

How about this -- rotary shop + work on other Mazdas? Yes, I know, that's what everyone else does, but it will bring some $.

I am constantly explaining the differences between s4 and s5 to a local shop I deal with...... And I've never even had an s4.....

BTW, I do know of a Mazda place that's looking for a high-end experienced mechanic. It's a small shop but it's a long term deal -- they keep the good people around for years.

Stealerships working on rotaries? Scary. Too many examples of Mazda = fail doing warranty work. Why anyone would pay..............

And if you really close up, I'll break my nightmare FC and make you fix it again on your next trip up here! Beware!

depends how long it takes to sell off inventory and how busy i can keep myself in the interim. for now i just want to start getting rid of things so i won't have to worry about storing a ton of stuff i will never use.

yep, vegas is definitely a honda town after talking to johnny over at the dyno shop. if you work on modifying hondas they seem to be doing quite well, the shop next door expanded a short time ago and they sell mainly, you guessed it, honda parts. it's always easier working from home, but i would worry about the EPA or worse showing up at my doorstep. there is some ranch homes that you could run the shop out of but unfortunately same boat with a $500,000 property and $3k/mo mortgage.

i do get other work in occasionally like the 2nd gen supra 7MGTE me and Jrat worked out that had a blown $30 felpro headgasket that we upgraded to a MLS steel HKS headgasket and reworked the head on. but it's time consuming learning other makes constantly unless they are minor repairs or simple bolt ons. that car had as many broken wires as any 2nd gen i have ever worked on..

problem with many other owners is there is alot of bad shops here that will take your money and do nothing about the issue you came in for, i assume many people just prefer going to the big name thinking they won't get ripped off there, unfortuanately you see that isn't the case with the dealer that tried to sell you an engine that we compression tested out to 110psi, although it didn't last it certainly wasn't bad when they tested it then we tested it shortly after. i diagnosed one 8 with a faulty motor but not a word back about rebuilding it, many people still get by with enough bitching and moaning to mazda that they still get reman engines out of warranty, not that i blame them as i wouldn't want a surprise $3k repair on a 8-10 year old car with ~100k miles either.

part of my problem is the detail i put into my work, it inevitably kills productivity and profit. but at the same time i hated doing the slap on work when i was at the dealers working flat rate. you had to hustle to get paid an average check at the end of the week so there was much less attention to detail and even trying to upsell things you knew the cars really didn't need, i just hated it. i won't even go into the depth of rebuilding an engine for the first time by the book getting paid flat rate, losing your *** for a week or 2, somehow the dealers think that is still 100% acceptable.

i have no problem still doing side work so i'm not afraid of threats!

$250, since it is heavy and would need to be picked up with a truck. it isn't heated but a heater could easily be incorporated into the simple tank.

shipping ranges from $100-250 depending on location. you can have my mazda reman crate to save the headache of fabbing yet another engine crate from scratch.
Well I've got two S4 13B N/A's, so I could probably do with core. How much would it be for a Master rebuild kit. I know I can't just replace the coolant seals cause I've got oil in my main coolant hose, so I know everything's mixing.

We don't have a Rotary shop in Tucson, if you're interested

Wow that stinks, I too enjoy reading your posts and what not. You seem very knowledgable on rotary stuff.
I was going to contact you regarding the fd ss omp lines.... I've been so busy I never got around to it. Do you still have any of these available? I have tons of ends for s4 lines probably 3 sets or so and an fd set of ends as well. Anyhow, if you do let me know.
Good luck with everything!

with a core i can do $1450 for a stock port S4 n/a, $1700 for a ported S4 n/a or $1900 for the ported TII. would prefer just building one with my parts and exchange for the core motor as my parts are already cleaned and ready for assembly and will save you a trip.

i do still make the lines but ran out of fittings, so if you have fittings and can send them to:

Rotary Evolution
4375 West Reno Ave #6
Las Vegas, NV, 89118

i can put a set together and discount you for the additional sets sent for $5 for each pair of fittings for 2 lines(2 small + 2 large). i still plan on making the line sets even when i do close the shop.

also selling the Eaton longnose supercharger, i have another shortnose that will better suit my need for the twin charged setup. this supercharger has been cleaned and rebuilt and has no freeplay or chatter anymore.

obviously requires a standalone and fabrication work to fit a rotary but the sizing is decent for the application.

$145 plus shipping.

Yup you right that Vegas is a Honda town. 3 shops constantly battling each other out on their builds and customers which makes it create work. You have people here that are happy just to have a running rotary and not many trying to push it's limits with them in vegas.
