I finally got around to installing the lights today (hey, it's a project car). For those who have not yet installed these, the several members who've said you have to cut some of the chassis are correct. You will need to cut the piece HOZZMANRX7 shows, as well as a small bit right behind it in order for the red plug for the bulb to clear. You -can- install these without doing that, but you will have no vertical adjustment for aiming. The lights will sit much closer to the front bumper as well. I'd hate to install it that way and when the lamp position changes a little over time the lights get destroyed when going up or down.
I also had issues with all of the cylindrical spacers provided. The newest cylindrical spacers were too short and would require extra washers or something to fit right. The headlight housings were contacting the mounting bracket. The old spacers were too long and wouldn't tighten down enough on the new c shaped spacers. I trimmed 1/8" off of each of the old, longer cylindrical spacers and it they fit correctly now.
In summary, this is not a plug and play kit, but the improved lighting is worth it. Thanks SBG for making these for the FC folks.

Bringing this thread back:
One of the housings in my kit started to condense on the inside when the rainy season started. The chrome has since "flaked" off, and instead of being shiny around the projector, it's black. Is there any way to remedy this? The lights have been wonderful thus far, besides this one issue.
Thanks!

Sorry I don't check this thread often, next time shoot us a PM also cause otherwise we don't know you're posting. That light needs to have the water removed asap. I don't know if you have some weatherstripping missing on that side or what's going on, but the only way for that much water to get in would be to have water dripping on the back of the lights. Water can enter through the two vent tubes or through the bulb socket. water landing on any of those areas will literally drip into the housing. I'm not sure if you're missing any of the stock weatherstripping but if water is landing on the backs this would happen with h4 bulbs/housings as well.
You can send it back and I can open it up and clean it. I'd bring it out of the car and try to get as much water out as possible now by removing the bulb and resting it upside down over night. The lens will need to come off to clean it though. Typically if they get wet the chrome will get discolored. The inside of the housing could be repainted a darker color or we could sell you a replacement housing at a discounted cost. Please send us a PM so we can discuss options.

We no longer produce the original version due to high costs and low sales numbers however we have just wrapped up a more affordable alternative to the original.
Unlike our original design this new design does not require housing spacers to clear the bulb connector. At nearly half the cost, and with no hassles with modifications or spacers to fit the deep projector the new setup is a no brainer for anyone looking for a proper lighting setup for their FC (or any other car using the same headlight size).
No, we do not recommend using any high kelvin HID bulbs. Consumers typically ask for "blue/purple" bulbs based on a misconception that HID's are supposed to "look" colorful.
-For those that don't know: High Intensity Discharge is a xenon filled bulb... these bulbs when used in a "reflector housing" meant for halogen bulbs provide LESS light than the standard halogen and a WORSE beam pattern, scatter light all over the road and blind oncoming traffic, and make you look like a toolbox . A projector HID is an entirely different setup, and is what is used on high end cars. Yes the bulb technology is similar but the way the light is distributed is the key. Projector Bi-Xenon HID systems distribute this light evenly, and with a sharp cutoff which does not blind oncoming traffic. Bi-Xenon systems produce a colorful rainbow at the top of the cutoff due to refraction of the light, creating the "color flicker" associated with high end projectors (from another vehicle you will notice the lights changing from white to blue to purple as the car with the projector setup approaches you). This is what the guys hawking the $75 "HID" kits are trying to mimic by selling you purple bulbs . These bulbs can cut light output nearly in HALF as compared to OEM 4300K bulbs. With a true HID system the light from the headlights is white but the appearance from other cars is purple.
We'll get an interest list going shortly for anyone interested in our new setup.
Thanks, Heath

What makes the new version cheaper?
Should I assume the new ones don't use the (OEM) Philips bulbs? (I personally would pay for the higher bulb/projectors)
#374
We make a Miata kit however I dont know if the depth will work. Our Miata kit (along with our FC kit) uses h1 bulbs which solve the depth issue associated with d2s bulbs. The beam pattern isn't quite as good as our original version however these are significantly more affordable units and have better clearance. I can post some pics of the 7" miata lights if you're interested.
I know it's apples and oranges but here's the stock FD lights vs our similar FD Silverline lights for comparison. The FC lights are no slouch!
Yes these use a more durable (to rocks) plastic lens on the housing. Yes we accept credit cards through the website
These projectors use the same size lens as our previous kit, however the beam pattern is not quite as wide. We use a completely different and modified projector that utilizes our own h1 HID bulb bases. This was done not only to lower costs but also to prevent the need for spacers or modification to the chassis. In our base kit we also offer a cheaper SBG designed 35w slim ballast, as well as a more expensive (optional) heavy duty 35w and 50w ballasts.
Unfortunately for this price we couldn't use a d2s bulb so the philips are not an option. Our house brand h1 bulbs are available in 4300, 5000, and 6000 kelvin color temperatures, and are actually very high quality units.
