That's not actually a "Bathurst R", as those were made only in 2001, it was the RX-7 SP model that debuted in 1995. But that's not an SP model either, as it doesn't have any of the original SP model accessories, instead it has some of the newer seats and I guess floor mats? The SP model from '95 had recaros, a really tall wing out back, and a carbon fiber mazdaspeed intake, among other things. The '01 Bathurst R has the updated '99+ styling, carbon fiber interior, badges on the outside, etc. etc.

What made you think it was a Bathurst R?

Merlin is correct, it's not a Bathurst R but an R Bathurst. I checked the chassis code online(I have the auction sheet) and it stated that it was made around February - that's when they introduced the type R Bathurst.

I don't really know the specs of the type R Bathurst had but I do know that only 500 were produced...

No, the flying M emblems and that wing are not original to the car, however the RX-7 Efini badge is. Originally it didn't have a stereo and had a touring wing, but I don't think there was anything else all that special about it.

Correct. Just a non-rotary expert mistake by me. It is an R Bathurst. Not much is difefrent on it aside from the lower production numbers.

most likely you will have to purchase a wrecked FD to take its Vin# to register this vehicle, which in return will show as a salvage or accident records under its Vin#
