will it fit how much $$$$

Ok I know you guys are going to chew my *** for asking I realize this is an insult to the rotary but here is my situation. I have 2 FB's one that has no motor and one that runs like crap and leaks oil about as fast as i can put it in. I also have a fresh 350 chevy with trans. I need one of these cars to get back on the road soon I would like to put the 350 in the one without the motor till i get the time and money to rebuild my rotary. my question is will it fit and what mods to make it fit and what will it cost? I can do all the work my self if some one can point me in the right direction on how to do it.

W W! that sucks. I guess its like one of those girls that look good in the tight jeans, untill the jeans come off then that fat *** turns out to be just that fat, rolls of fat......YUCK. it will cost about the same to buy a running 12a than it'll cost to drop that 350 in + you gotto kill your interior when you cut the center to relocat the shifter. snap out of it man.

While I hate to hear of a V8 powered RX7 almost as much as I hate chevy's, there are ways to do this.
The biggest issue, is the motor mounts. Back in the 50's and early 60's, some small block chevy's actually mounted from the front, much like the 1st gen engine. Most SBC blocks still have the 4 bolt holes that were used for this front mount plate, but there is one (top, passenger side) hole that you must be careful to not use too long of a bolt, as it will prevent the fuel pump rod from moving. While this is not the "Preffered" method of installing an engine, it will better allow the car to eventually be converted back to it's true heritage of having a rotary engine.
Other methods exist, including a complete conversion kit (granny's speed shop, for one), but they are rather pricey. You could always fabricate something yourself, but that takes time and money.

As much as I hate to say it, I doubt you'll want to go back to 100hp after driving an FB with 300hp.

I'd like to see any of these hard core rotor heads take out a small block and put their 12A back in after having the chance to drive it with the V8.

I love rotarys as much as anyone on here. But a 350 powered FB would be a damn fun beast in it's own right.

DO IT! you can always buy another RX-7 and keep it rotor'd

I had my FB with a Chevy 350/t5 swap... fun... and no I will never drive a n/a 12a again. But to "just get back on the road" you're much better off from a $$$ point of view just finding a 12a that runs. Hell you could find ANOTHER 7 that runs before you could complete, PROPERLY, a v8 swap.

That being said I did "down grade" from a 325hp and God knows how much torque 350 to a stock sr20det ~205hp. It's as fun to drive so I'm just as entertaind... for now.

I know we talked on the phone about rebuilding your current 12A, if you are serious about doing this, I may be up for a thought provoking project. By the time you are done though, it will cost nearly as much, or more, as rebuilding the 12A, but you could have twice the hp.

And no flames guys, please. I'm an old gearhead and still get a rise out of a well tuned V8, which I have played with since, oh my gosh, the late 60's.

Oh **** this guys local!

Pm Midwest 7's. he's in colorado untill monday, but he'll probably be able to hook you up with a good running 12A for a good price. if you want to go that rout.

Or have trochoid build you a nice 1/2 bridge motor.

Or put a small block in there.

Any way you go, there is lots of help and advice in these parts if you need it.

So you still support the company that brought the world the fantastic Olds 350 diesel, fuel tanks mounted to the outside of frame rails and other great mishaps looking for a chance to happen......
How old is your chevy truck, and how hard do you have to slam the doors to get them to close?

One quick question. Isn't Holden a part of Ford? I heard they are, but have never really known.
Holden does seem to be a popular Aussie vehicle.

Holden is GM, where do you think the new GTOs came from? The Aussie V8 super car series.

Correct me if I'm wrong fly, but isn't the Commodore a Holden and the basis for the American GTO? Ford runs a Torano or Turano V8 against them.

Novalves, sorry for the jack. Give me a call if you are seriously considering this swap. I might be able to help you out. And no flames from the peanuts please.

Do you have a difficult time doing research with your foot shoved in your mouth?

Funny coming from a guy, who's company made the Pinto...

And your twin-I-beam setup SUCKS. Can't keep those things straight on the road to save your lives. Oh and crappy gas mileage is a Ford trade-mark.
