How is a manual going to help you control the power?
LT1's have the pattern as any other sbc, only diffenence is they have a 1 piece rear main. So because of that you may need a different flywheel, I'm not sure. A clutch kit for a 93-97 camaro will work, but I don't think they came with a hydo throwout.

With a manual or automatic youll still have wheelspin. You need wider tires on the rear end. Thats your real problem not the tranny. Did you perform this conversion or buy it already done?

Ok think thats another issue with the VSS signal not being read by the PCM. It stays in first gear the whole time? Its much easier and cheaper to fix your problem, rather than changing the entire transmission. Unless you determined to change it ..thats your decision. Your VSS in on the drivers side on the tailshaft of the tranny..will be a purple and yellow wire. Some years did use other colors. If the PCM dosnt see the tranny speed via this sensor it will not shift. Those 2 wires go directly to the PCM..if your harness didnt have that connector you can easily run them yourself. I can go into more detail if your going to fix it.

It sounds more like it's a 700 or 200 trans with a mis-adjusted TV cable. I doubt it's a 327 with a 4L60E bolted to it.

^ my thoughts exactly.
Does this maybe happen in 3rd gear at the end of the 1/4?
