Thank you! I need some better tires forsure. Lol I bet!!

Clean up that place! Haha I would love to have that much space!! Lookin good

Yea, Im using Duplicolor Self Etching. Its Olive color. We bought like 18 cans off of some website for $3.50 each so we could paint my buddies Miata with it, but he isnt ready to paint yet, so I've been using it. haha. Honestly, It only took around 1.5 cans to do the entire engine bay, and that was with re-doing a few parts 2-3 times.

Hopefully I will get back in time to work on it more tonight- gotta head to Charlotte to pick up a friend.

I need to get some pics tomorrow- engine bay is welded, but only the seams and some of the smaller holes so far- need to get some metal to plug the larger holes.

Once again, this project is hitting the back burner to another car project- this time its my 93 Miata LE. Pulled the engine today... spun a rod at 130, 002 miles...

Debating on a stock 1.6L to keep it stock since its a rare car, or building the 1.8L turbo motor I have in the garage for it.

Honestly, I think I'm going to put a fresh 1.6L back in it, sell it, then buy a less valuable Miata and do the 1.8L turbo.

But anyways, I'll get some progress pics up tomorrow and hopefully get back to work on it soon!

Sorry I've been slacking on the PM replies. I'm planning on heading over and taking pictures of all the extra stuff tomorrow, and I'll try to get a thread up this weekend. I would love for someone to come get most of this stuff at once, so if you see the thread and want some of the bigger stuff, plan a roadtrip and I will give you a deal!

Also, the Miata didnt spin just one bearing- 3 rod bearings were toast, as well as the #3 piston broke the entire skirt off- Never heard of/seen that piston damage on a sealed, NA Miata...

Just wow... haha

Progress is coming soon!

Heading up to Suffolk tomorrow to get my FC Subframe/Spindles/rack/colum, etc. I'll get some pics.

Still gonna be working on the Miata engine till its done, but that should be early next week since I'm getting a running 1.6L longblock from a buddy, so just need to clean stuff up and put it back in!

Slight update again- Got all the FC parts today- mocking it up tomorrow, using the FC column as is since its a gutted race car and I dont care about it fitting the stock mounts (unless the FC column ends up too short/long.... guess we will see tomorrow!!!

^thats fine with me! I have considered building a 13B a few times because I think it would be sweet in the car, but its hard to sway from already having the LT1/tranny/etc sitting here.... lol

Here is a pic of the FC i got the subframe from- ever used a Hi-Lift farm jack and a set of 32x10.5 mud tires as jack stands for your RX7??? I hope not... lol

And here is is sitting at my house.

And this is whats coming out.

So two questions here.

15:1 Steering rack- should I depower it, or run PS? Im gonna be running a 255 or 275 Hoosier A6 up front. This is an autocross car, so steering at no speed doesnt matter, but low speeds are key.

Sway bar- Use the FB one and modify the endlinks, or run the FC one and modify the Mounts?

This is the FB bar I have (not sure of brand, but its huge compared to the stock FB one.

Not sure if one is better than the other considering the mounting locations and the difference in arm lengths (8" on the FC, 14" on the FB)

Given the current bars I have, the FB one is nearly 2 times stiffer, but if I had a larger FC one it would be closer.

Didnt take any pictures today other than this

Started to flap wheel down some of the plugs.

Also got the FC subframe apart and ready for media blasting. Same with the 8 3/4" rear end.

Also, on that note- I will be selling the GSL-SE rear axle (blasted/painted black, all new bearings, etc) and the GSL-SE Fronts (Tokicos, painted, new bearings, rotors, pads, etc..) As soon as I figure out what to use for my fronts. I have the option of modifying the FB tube with my ReSpeed Coilovers/ camber plates to work, or I could just sell that whole setup (also have the Respeed BBK brackets/spacers) and just buy an FC setup.

As well I have TWO full sets of Steering from the FB (inner/outer, ball joints, etc) most all brand new as well. (This is not a FS add, I know, but I figure if anyone reading this might be looking for it, send me a PM or wait for the FS add)

So, If anyone has some FC Stuff I need (front coilovers, every front poly bushing available, endlinks, bigger bar, etc) Send me a PM and maybe we can work something out on a trade?

Back on track- The FC subframe should be blasted by the end of the week, as well as some other parts. I'm getting the new Ring/Pinion this weekend, so that will be setup soon too...

Gotta get to cutting/welding my spacers for the subframe, and the other holes in the bay!

Also, another side project- Built some Extended tophats with my buddy for his Miata- Dont make fun of my welding too bad, lol

Materials = $27
Time = 4 Hrs (counting random 4 wheeler time, messing with the shifter cart, beer, and cigs, lol)
Money saved= around $175 since most of them are about $200 online... hell yes!
Final product= Works perfect, even though his cutting/measuring of the plates left something to be desired... lol all of the bases are different, but close enough, haha

FB front Suspension

I'm going the same route on the front. Post pics! I can learn from what you do! I found a local FB turbo so I'm going to steal the front from that.

I'm bad at remembering to take pictures.

Got the FC subframe mocked up completely. Taking it back out tomorrow and sandblasting it, along with the control arms and 4Pot Brakes.

Also got the rest of the interior 100% stripped, and ready to start the wiring project.

I'll try to take some current pics tomorrow!

Subframe mocked up with control arm.

Also note the left CA that I already sandblasted.

4 Pot brakes being cleaned up, and the swaybar endlinks I sandblasted and Painted (along with the bolts)

And here is a pic of the subframe mounted in place along with the strut tower brace (which I will most likely be selling soon since I doubt it will fit with my LT1) PM/Post up if your interested in it!

Tomorrow I'm gonna try to sandblast the other CA and the Entire Subframe. Not sure if my Harbor Freight sandblaster will really want to do that big of a part... haha

Whats involved in installing the 2nd gen subframe and whats the benefit for you since your running a v8? Just suspension options?

The 2nd gen subframe is a huge benefit. You get a lighter suspension package, 5 lug hubs, 4 pison Brakes, a real steering rack vs the steering box, aluminum A Arms vs the stock with the stay rods. It basically updates the front suspension to a modern sports car.

There are a few threads around about installing it, but honestly its not all that much work. The hardest part would be modifying the FC and FB steering columns to fit together, but with my car being a gutted race car, I see no reason in mine to not just use the FC Column (you might have a problem doing this with the factory dash.

But with the FC stuff, I go to a 15:1 ratio steering rack with power steering (and with 275 Hoosiers up front, I think that will be nice...)
