Where is a FAQ on a V8 swap into an FC?

Yes i have searched, and get a million threads but not the info i am looking for, which is just some very basic questions like, how hard? How much?

So i just got an 86 FC GXL shell for $250, i have a choice, either strip all the parts off of it and put them on my 87 NA or drop an engine into the shell.

At this point i am leaning towards striping it but would like some moer info before i do that.

How hard is dropping a V8 into an FC really?

How much would i really spend on just the parts to do it and then on an engine?

Basically where is a FAQ with basic info, not searching through a million threads just to get more confused lol.

They offer EVERYTHING you need to put any v8 into an fc. It's a fairly straightforward process.

I will be starting this swap very soon, but I will be making most of my own parts (crossmembers, exhaust, misc brackets, etc)
383 sbc, sportsmanII heads, "mild" cam (), about 400hp/425tq (before the turbo)
shooting for low 11's.

Thanks for the link!

So it looks like they have kits from about $500 - $2000. Though the high end kits look to come with extra stuff you don't need.

I guess the real trick would be finding an engine for a good price. I though i found te deal of a life time with an LS6 for $600 but found out it is missing pistons and rods and mics other things to get it running. So after is all said and done would be $2000+.

there is a pretty good deal right now on v8rx7forum.com
3500 for an 02 ls1/t56 w/ 40k miles, and JTR longtubes for an extra 500.
http://www.v8rx7forum.com/parts-ever...0k-3500-a.html

theres not really a decent 'complete' faq for the swap, since lots of people do little things differently. radiator choices, fuel plumbing, etc.
read through the build threads on v8rx7forum.com. there are quite a few realyl detailed ones that will help a lot.

That is a good deal but no way i could afford that right now. If i was to do it it would be with something like an LT1 thats a lot cheaper.

But I just found an MR2 for $1200 that i wan to get, so if i get that then the V8 swap idea is gone for this body anyways. Later if i can find another body in better condition though....

for cheap, you can build a small block chevy/ford car for peanuts.
either your basic carbed 350, or the ford 5.0 are really cheap engines with plenty of potential. a 17 year old kid i know built his 5.0 FC for nothing. he bought a wrecked 80s ford something (that came with the 5.0). he parted the car, sold the rotary, and had enough money to do the entire swap. essentially a free car, aside from the time he put into it.
