What V8 would you stick in your rx7?

A friend was telling me, if this V8 was produced in the same exact specs by any other manufacturer, it would cost 3 times as much. Just imagine what an all aluminum V8 would cost from BMW or mercedes?

The only problem with the LT5, is going to be finding parts for the motor and cost. This was not a high volume motor, and I believe each one was hand built(Could be wrong about this though). It's definitely a badass motor though, and sounds so sweet.

Thats a pretty retarded statement man. cheap compared to what? a $60k nascar engine? $100k top fuel race engine? yeah sure, compared to those maybe. but for a mass produced, engine sold to the public that you can obtain just about anywhere in america for a decent price, these engines are made of bitchen quality.

In the argument about cost, i agree. But one couldnt even start to compete with BMW's build quality. The only problem with those engines is the cost of maintenance, other than that, if i wanted to last the entirety of a race, i'd pay dearly for the BMW if to better chances of victory.

Rotaries arent "RICE" The owners of such take pride in the noise they make because the deafning noise you hear isnt a loud exhaust, its the engine. Now dont ricers put loud exhausts on their car to fool the complete idiot that hears it into thinking its high performance? Yes. Rotaries are noisy, and obnoxious. but so are big block chevys. So I love them anyways.

the garbage trucks where you live are LS1 powered.
I know your joking, but in all reality an LS1 wouldn't last very long in that application when compared with the diesel engine they actually do have.

Someone mentioned the hayabusa V8. ww.powertecracing.com
I wouldn't mind dropping the stroked 3.0 liter version in an FD.
I think the new M3 V8 would be superb, and its an awesome sounding motor.
A corvette enthusiast told me the old ZR1 motor had too long of a stroke too take advantage of it's head design. Can anyone here verify this?

To all that don't understand swaps.....
Try to get any significant power increase on a rotory motor without spending megabucks and
still be smog legal in California .
I love the rotary and still have my 85-SE , that I bought new , but I also have an 85 with a 5.0
that cost less than $2k to do the swap and was california smog legal.

Nobody cares about California. The rest of the nation is just waiting for it to fall into the pacific along with it's communist government.

If had to choose a v8 it would be the 4.6l DOHC v8 from the 2000-2004 mustang cobra w/ twin 57mm turbos. here is an ex of this in a 2004 cobra http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP9H7QkNjMM this engine is very reliable and strong.as compared to the countless times i have helped a friend rebuild his 2 305's and 3 350 sbc's i hate chevy engines they are cheap and easy to build but you rebuild them way to often and they leak all the time! i even helped him rebuild his 1958 L6 3 times from his 58 apache 36.

the weight of a LT1 isn't crazy compared to a LS1, especially compared with a lot of the other engines that have been mentioned that wouldn't even fit without building a tube front end or putting a 6" cowl hood on the car.

Yes, cal sucks, I've since moved to Florida, but you can expect more epa interference everywhere , in modifying cars thanks to the liberal majority in the gov't .
It's like a one way ratchet, keeps tightening, but won't loosen.
Doesn't Maryland have smog checks ?
